Christmas Schedule: Last Urgent Care night is Monday Dec 22 - due to incoming weather. We will remain open for food, meds and nail trims until 6 pm on Tuesday Dec 23. We will then be CLOSED FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON.
Opening for food and meds and tech services on Dec. 29 and 30 and Jan. 2. Veterinary services and urgent care will resume Monday Jan 4, 2026. HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE! ❤️🎄

Last evening we had a successful launch of our part time (Monday to Thursday until 10 pm) urgent care program. Several pets were helped. 🐾❤️

🐾❤️Petite Pet Hospital is going to soft launch a new idea. Dr. Guest is making an effort to support local pet owners.
Starting Sept. 8, we are extending our Monday to Thursday hours from 6-10pm for urgent care walk in service for any pet. (It is not for regular annual care such as vaccines or parasitic prevention medications, meds refills etc.) For each patient consult, a record will be returned to the regular care veterinarian.
Walk in services can be accessed by calling 902-693-9393 to let us know you are on your way and give some details about the problem.
As mentioned, this is a soft launch. We are interested to see what the level of need and use of a potential emergency clinic would be on the South Shore.
Currently, we will limit this coverage to Monday through Thursday.
Emergencies on Friday through Sunday and holidays will still be directed to the city.
When Dr Guest goes on vacation this service will not be available, until a veterinarian with an interest in part-time urgent care medicine joins the effort - that opportunity is readily available to any veterinarian or RVT that would like to join us part time; contact us at [email protected].
Complicated cases outside our care capabilities may be stabilized and then moved to an ICU in the city.
Dr Guest hopes that this effort might relieve local pet owner concern and potentially provide a pathway forward for emergency care on the South Shore.❤️🐾

Dr Guest is feeding the hungry kitties here each morning. We have to feed smaller amounts over the day and scatter it to avoid inter cat aggression and gorge impaction. We are getting larger numbers and one Momma is pregnant. Appears we need to make a spay neuter program here. But the cats are getting better body condition since I started. Will leave a maintenance program here for feeding.
I have also been feeding very thin street dogs randomly from the back of my car. That is a much bigger scope at present. It does warm my heart to give them a good meal.
Pet food is super expensive here and folks are not wealthy. They could use longer term help. Have a few folks who will try to continue feedings if we supply food. I'd like to come back and set up more routine care.
I did find out yesterday that I can purchase dewormer and basic flea and tick prevention at the local feed store.
There are rescue groups here but they do not range this far north on the island. So it is completely unchartered territory.
I am loving each day and keeping well! I do miss all of my patients and their hoomans! See you soon!❤️
