šØšØPet Safety Alert! - Wildfire RiskšØšØ
As of late last night, there are several wildfires burning North/Northeast of us, and air quality can affect our pets' ability to breathe the same way it affects our ability to breathe.
As emergency responders work hard to get these fires under control (thank you to the brave men and women who are working hard to keep us safe!), we need to make sure we are doing our part to keep our pets safe.
If the area you live in starts getting smokey, keep your pets indoors as much as you can. Make sure they have plenty of fresh water at all times. Keep an ear out for any coughing or wheezing they may be experiencing, unusual tiredness they may be displaying, or signs of eye irritation, and keep your local Emergency Vet's contact information handy.
We are lucky enough to have one right in Peterborough, and a second one not far away in Port Hope.

The image included in this post colour codes our areas based on their forest fire danger ratings, with blue šµ being low risk, green š¢ being moderate risk, yellow š” being high risk, and red š“ being extreme risk.
Stay safe everyone!
