😮‍💨 Is it just me or has this been the longest winter EVER??
The pet grooming industry is cyclical and our “busy season” is somewhat predictable. It has been 10-12 weeks since our Christmas rush and many people have been waiting for the weather to warm up to book their pet in for a spring clean up. I’m no ground hog, but I am predicting a busier than normal spring and lots of dogs overdue for grooming.
This is your heads up to book in advance and don’t wait until it gets muddy and your pet is uncomfortable.

Educational post. This is my dog, Beep. I brought her to the shop with me for a groom yesterday. She needed a bath and sanitary tidy because she had a bit of a messy bum 🫣 She was acting totally normal yesterday and her back end wasn’t bothering her so I cleaned her up for sanitary purposes - bath in hypo shampoo and a light sanitary clip and she was good to go!
Here she is today and she isn’t acting like herself. She is quiet and trembling a bit. I saw her scoot on her bottom so I investigated. I discovered she has what looks like an inflamed a**l gland - ouch!
I do not express her glands as part of her regular grooming routine as this is not usually an issue for her. Healthy dogs do not need to have their glands expressed regularly and a good diet (including fibre) will prevent most issues.
It would be easy to assume that something happened during the grooming process to create this problem but I know that it is simply a coincidence that this has occurred after her groom (probably the result of too many treats & an upset belly). We are always available to discuss any concerns you have about your dog and about the grooming process. Beep has been given some pain meds and should be back to her happy self soon!
