Please do not stop having your pet groomed. I am very concerned as a groomer and lifetime animal lover about the number of pets not being groomed. Salons are currently shut dow and this is a groomer's busiest time if year. Every year at this time I see at least a few dogs and cats who are way overdue for a groom and some are obviously uncomfortable. I am scared to death about what groomers will be facing in a month or two. Here is an article from the ASPCA in regards. Thank you.

Brought Little Fin to work today! We did our first ever island groom 😀 I have never had to take a boat ride to a groom before and Annika had never even been on a boat! What a fun treat 😊

Ok so here is a little education for pet owners or pet owners to be. First of all, before EVER getting any pet, please make sure you know all the ins and outside of whatever pet you are considering. Make sure that if you get a pet you can afford vet, grooming and diet expenses. If you purchase a dog or cat, understand that nails need trimmed every 4-6 weeks (they grow just like ours). If you let your pet's nails grow too long, all of their weight is pressing down on their poor toes. The nails can become bruised and split. Long nails affect ALL of the joints and can leave a dog in severe pain. Dogs do not complain or cry about the pain they are feeling.If not trimmed regularly, the nail quicks will not receded as they should and even when the nails are cut, they will still appear long as they grow to a point and if the groomer takes too much off they will bleed. Even if they do not bleed, the nail trim can pinch them if taken too close and the dog can develop a fear of nail trimming and become uncooperative and even aggressive. I have literally pulled nails out of infected pads of neglected animals. The poor dog in this picture was left until he was extremely matted. His owner hacked away at him until she decided she had better take him to a professional. He was extremely matted. The sad thing was, his owner looked like she spent a small fortune on her own beauty products and several hours in the mirror working on her own appearance. I gently educated her on regular grooming (as I was screaming inside) and I am hoping that she is more responsible with his upkeep in the future. I see this kind of thing far too often. If you cannot afford $50+tax every 2-3 months for grooming (more for larger breeds), please do not get a dog that requires it!!

Omg working for Kijiji at Woofstock in Toronto with 3 other amazing groomers and the amazing Kijiji staff has so far been an incredible experience. Today was a warm up for tomorrow. I can't believe how many people were there considering how the weather was. We actually got a few hours of nice weather. Tomorrow is going to be insane!!
