Jax “The Bubbas”
May 31st, 2016 - Aug 8th, 2026
Once upon a time two naive 25 year olds drove down to Newmarket to “look” at a puppy that they saw on kijiji. A few hours later they were driving home with a puppy they were absolutely not ready for. The next day, the breeder called us and told us we were given the wrong male, the male we had was reserved for another family.
But you were already mine, there was no way you were leaving my sight. And that was that.
We chose a Cane Corso because a family member had one and we liked him. We had no business owning this breed 😅 but oh my bubbas…. To say it wasn’t meant to be would be an understatement.
Thank you Jax man… Thank you for being the absolute best boy, the strongest boy, the boy who kicked cancers ass a month past his prognosis, the best big brother, the boy who helped me reshaped my entire world.
You were there in our first house, our second house, my parents basement apartment while waiting for our third house (that was fun with two corsos), our third house (which we thought was our forever home) and then like we always promised you, you were there for our fourth and final house… the property, the privacy, the stress free living. All for you.
You were there for our engagement, our wedding, our two beautiful babies and every single minor and major life event. You watched your mama loose herself in a job that drained her, you snuggled and gave gentle kisses when she cried and then one day, thanks to everything you taught her, you watched her take a leap of faith and start her own business. You watched your dad work his butt off and become a firefighter. You (begrudgingly) welcomed your little brother a.k.a your son, Indi and that is a bond I am so thankful to have witnessed.
We had the not so greats, the muzzle training and blockage surgeries and porcupines and giardia, we had going head to head with a truck… and winning… as your dad always said “you’re a weapon bubba”…
And then we had the core memories… the workouts and Tik Toks and Hikies and swims and car rides and pup cups and timbits and cottages and camping and boat rides.
and then one day… you became the face of the business, one half of the Tails N Trails Logo. A face everyone gets to see everyday, never to be forgotten. Forever helping other doggos and their families.
And that’s the best part. You won’t just be remembered by those who loved you from near. But you will be seen and loved for years to come by friends and family and clients, old and new. They will read your story and know what you did for me. What you helped me build for them.
Because you may have only loved selectively. But you had endless love to give and that love spread like wildfire. Look what it did Bubba. My little angry dog, “danger dog”…. You built a family and a community.
And for that. I say Thank You.
This is not a goodbye, because I’ll be seeing you everyday in the life that we built. I am forever grateful for you.
Rest now, you did good bubba 🌈
I love you.
