🚨 Let’s Talk About Bladder Stones in Pets 🚨

This was a great patient case! And a wonderful outcome in Dr. Richter and team removing the stones.

Did you know that bladder stones are one of the most common urinary problems we see in dogs and cats? 🐶🐱

These tiny (or sometimes not-so-tiny) mineral formations can cause big discomfort — and if left untreated, can even lead to life-threatening blockages.

⚠️ Common signs your pet may have bladder stones:
• Straining or difficulty urinating
• Frequent attempts to urinate with little success
• Blood in the urine
• Licking the ge***al area more than usual
• Accidents in the house (even in trained pets!)
• Signs of pain or restlessness

💡 What causes them?
Bladder stones can form due to factors like diet, urinary tract infections, genetics, and even how much water your pet drinks daily.

🩺 How are they diagnosed?
Your vet will typically use X-rays or an ultrasound to confirm the presence, size, and number of stones.

💧 Treatment options include:
• Prescription diets that can dissolve certain types of stones
• Surgery or a special flushing procedure to remove them
• Long-term dietary changes to prevent recurrence

🐾 Pro tip: Always encourage your pet to drink plenty of fresh water — hydration helps flush minerals out of the bladder before they form stones!

If you notice any urinary changes, don’t wait — book an exam. Early diagnosis makes all the difference. ❤️
