Malibu is for sale. Located in Pemberton and sadly outgrown. 15HH 10 year old dark bay/black mare. Wonderful all round horse for a rider with some experience and looking to move up in any direction. She is very well schooled on the flat and brave and confident over fences. 2025 show experience with good results up to .75m. Easy keeper. Malibu is not suitable for a beginner but would be a wonderful second horse for a confident rider ready to progress on and improve their skills. She is brave, great on trails and a perfect all rounder pony club type horse. Malibu is much loved and therefore priced accordingly as a good home is essential.. 85🥕🥕

The Milner Downs horse show is a wrap. With a small but mighty Pemberton Valley Equestrian Centre team. Sally Warner and Rivaldi were the Champions of theit Junior/ Amateur division. Which was wonderful as it was a very competitive category. Simone Reid and her new mount Benson Seven in their big hunter ring debut were so impressive. Many great results highlights including 2nd in the Classic on Sunday with 2 simply lovely rounds and a super impressive 7th place in the highly competitive $2000 Milner Downs Derby Challenge on Friday. Emily Potter racked up great results as she has confidently moved up rhe heights with her lovely new mount Marcus Bravura on their first show on grass. We are setting up for great things!
BCHJA Fall Finale is our next show and we feel very well set up for it. Thank you as always to a great crew of riders and support staff. I could absolutely not do it without you.

In my 20’s I was a high performance grand prix show jumper, coach and trainer. After a 15 year hiatus from the sport and a move to Whistler I decided to re-enter the horse world. l initially kept my horses at Meg and Charlie Davies’ farm up the Meadows. After my horse’s first farrier appointment I was so astounded to see the skill and knowledge of the local farrier Dave Gilmour, He was as good as any farrier I had ever worked with at the highest level of the sport.

Fast forward 24 years with a show barn full of performance horses in Pemberton who are all exclusively shod by Dave I really cannot express how much we are going to miss his skillful services as he enters his retirement.
He has been a key member of our team keeping all our horses sound and happy. Impressively he always kept current with new developments in the farrier world displaying a keen and deep dedication to what wasn’t just a job but a true vocation.
It is hard to imagine how we’re going to get by without Dave. He has set such a very high bar that I hope we will all insist anyone that comes behind him strives to meet.
All the best Dave to you and Vicky and your family and your adventures going forward . You always find the joy in life and I know you will continue to do so. With sincere thanks, much love and respect,

Sunday evening reflections on a wonderful show at Maple Ridge Equestrian Centre (MREC) this past week Such a rewarding trainer experience with all my great “kids”.

Working students Jordan Pinkney her horse 67 Malibu and Anja Taylor with Sally Warner‘s horse Tacori were both at their first horse show. It was so much fun to watch the learning curve from the first to the last day and to see how much these two horse rider combinations learned. Simone Reid on her new hunter mount (and very special) Benson Seven and Emily Potter on Marcelo Bravura for her well ridden and very successful sophomore show on her lovely newly acquired horse. These four girls were all absolute stars winning as many ribbons and championships as I can hardly count. The photo tells the story moving up heights, divisions, making all kinds of progress and setting themselves well prepared for their next horse show at Milner Downs in July.

With that success in mind, I strongly feel that it is our responsibility as trainers to support grassroot shows and venues like MREC, even with a small group of clients. These shows are professionally run, with a top class hunter ring, great jumper ring, good warm up ring and jumper ring footing, qualified judging, top notch course design, and great show management .

Yes it’s absolutely lovely to go to TBird but it’s these smaller shows that teach these riders how to get to those bigger venues and get the most out of them that they can for the extra money it cost for them to be there.
Thank you Nayda, Nicky, Phylis, Rita, Emma, and all the rest of the support team. You were all lovely to work with.

And as always horse show moms RULE thank you Karen and Kirsti for all you do

Well I am very late on this post but just getting back into the rhythm at the farm after returning from our first show of the year, the Spring Festival at Thunderbird Show Park.
And what a show it was!
Delighted to have Sally Warner back on her trusted campaigner Rivaldi riding consistently round after round in the .75 ring and finishing with the Open Reserve Championship. Darn that last fence in the jump off on Saturday!!
I could not have been more thrilled with Emily Potter on her very new mount Marcus Bravura skillfully keeping her competitive nature in check to give the new team a great first horse show. And proving that consistency wins with Champion Open.75 and Reserve Champion Junior/Am .75. Way to go Em! And thank you Holly and Alex Grayton for producing such a wonderful horse for us.
Simone Reid made a significant move up with Mi Amor to the 2'6" Pre Child Hunter division, which is an extremely competitive division, and daily she produced great rounds and loads of ribbons including an impressive 2nd place in the Classic on Sunday with a stunning round.
Most exciting is the 4th horse we put in the trailer on the trip home for Simone. Benson, Simone's grandmother Maureen Howe has generously passed along this wonderful horse to Simone for the show season so now we have exciting new challenges which she is embracing with impressive dedication.
No show works without the support team and I have the dream team of horse show moms in Karen Potter and Kirsti Blom. Great times, fun dinners, trivia... Thank you so much.
And Sally Warner as the best ever co-pilot, couldn't do it without you.💕
June MREC is our next show and looking forward to it so much with lots of firsts; my amazing working students Jordan and Anja taking their horses to their first show as well as Simone on Benson to their first show together and Emily and Marco in their sophomore show.
Go team!

2025 show season is a wrap.
Finishing off at the BCHJA Finale this past week with a small elite team of Simone Reid and Emiliy Potter and Chelsea McNeil riding my horse Lioncourt EEF.
Big thanks to all the riders for such a fun and winning season. Our hard work most definitely paid off. I have so much appreciation for the horse show moms. It couldn't happen without you. And special thanks, as always, to the huge support of Sally Warner (you were missed this week!!) Sincerely appreciative for my most excellent home team, Michelle and Lucie at the barn, Dr Laura White for her skillful care of our horses and our fabulous farrier Dave Gilmore. And a very special shout out to my most amazing working students Jordan, Anja, Josie and Lily who help me so much with their diligent work and filling in the gaps when I am not there.
The collaboration with Chelsea McNeil and Kate Perrin and their dedicated work to bring my big challenging horse up through the divisions over the last 2 years has been so rewarding. He is off to California in the New Year to a new chapter in his career as a big eq horse where, with such a solid foundation, I am sure he will excel.
Fall is a time for building blocks and perfect riding weather. I will be building the CET gymnastic course this week and Iook forward to a fun October working with everyone on that.

I was so thrilled with my lovely young horse’s round on Saturday in the 1.35m Classic at the BC Open at Tbird. Only his 3rd trip around at this height. Expertly piloted by Chelsea McNeil and a world of gratitude to Kate Perrin and the Perneil team for their hard work, collaboration and expertise in helping realize his potential.
