“Stay close to people who want more for you, not more from you”
I’ve learned a lot over the last handful of years and am happy to look at those that are close to me now and truly understand and feel this.

Looking forward to the season! ☀️🌼🌷 It’s a beautiful day, go enjoy and get after it!

THE FOUNDATION FIRST
C**t Starting & Young Horse Handling Clinic
Hosted by Poplar Ridge Ranch

This is not just a “3-day clinic.”
This is a step-by-step program designed to give you the tools, confidence, and support to properly start your horse the right way — and actually continue progressing at home.

🐴 WHAT MAKES THIS CLINIC DIFFERENT:

Most clinics end when you leave.
This one is built so your progress doesn’t.

You’ll learn the process, go home and apply it, and come back with guidance, feedback, and real results.

Clinic participants will gain exclusive access to a private Facebook group for continued support and coaching. This small, focused community allows for personalized feedback, additional training guidance, and ongoing help as you progress at home. It’s an opportunity for extra attention and mentorship beyond the clinic — giving you access to continued coaching that isn’t available to the general public.

📅 CLINIC FORMAT:

May 30–31 (In Person at Yellowhead Ag society/ Rodeo grounds)
• Groundwork to develop trust, respect and a willingness to learn and seek out the answers.
Establish a foundation that they can rely on as they advance in their training
• Establish an understanding of cues and body controls
Learn how to effectively work in the round pen
• Saddle prep
• First rides
Work on your timing, positioning and overall safety

3 Weeks At Home

• Improve their riding abilities, confidence and trust
• Trail exposure & obstacle work
• Troubleshooting & next steps

💥 WHAT YOU’LL GAIN:

• A clear, repeatable process and an understanding of how to develop a solid foundation when training a horse
• Better timing, communication and feel with your horse
• Confidence both on the ground and in the saddle
• Support even after you leave the clinic

All it takes is an x-ray to change the course of your year and slow the motion from all the work done in the year prior..
Chiclet essentially has a bone chip in a troublesome spot on her coffin joint and will need surgery to remove it. She will be ok and good to go later this summer and that’s the important part. I’m in it for her longevity of course.
It sure is disappointing though after working so hard and getting ready to finally take her out to show.
Oh well, as Lorenn and I have been saying (and doing) for the last couple years ‘Pivot! Pivot!’ 😆🙃
