✨ A huge thank you to Spin Me A Yarn for spotlighting The Blanket Project for Shelters and Rescues! ✨
This project began as a small way to blend my love for knitting with my passion for helping shelter pets, and thanks to the incredible kindness of crafters like you, it has grown into something truly heartwarming.
For animals waiting for their forever homes, a handmade blanket is more than just warmth—it’s a source of comfort and security. When they are adopted, their blanket goes with them, offering a familiar piece of their journey as they adjust to their new family.
I’m beyond grateful to Spin Me A Yarn for sharing this initiative and encouraging fellow crafters to get involved. Your support means so much—not just to me but also to the many rescue pets who will feel a little extra love thanks to your kindness.
If you’d like to participate, hand-knit or crocheted blankets (approx. 15” x 20”) are always welcome! We’re also happy to collect finished blankets to distribute to shelters in need.
This is a beautiful way to share our love of fiber arts while making a real difference for pets in need. Thank you again to Spin Me A Yarn and to everyone who supports this project—your generosity and compassion truly make the world a little warmer. 💕🐶🐱

The Blanket Project for Shelters and Rescues was started in 2020 by Melissa Yukselir when she combined her newly learnt knitting skills with her passion for assisting animal shelters.
For pets waiting to find their forever home, having a cosy blanket to lay their heads on not only provides comfort, but it accompanies them to their new home so that they have continuity between the shelter and their home.
This month, we are spotlighting the Blanket Project as an opportunity for crafters to donate hand knitted or hand crocheted blankets. It’s a great way to stash bust and the blankets knit up quickly as they are approximately 15”x20”. Washable yarns are a must!
We can provide donated yarns and collect the finished blankets to give to The Blanket Project.
It’s a great way to share our love of yarn crafts to make life a little cosier for pets in need 🐈⬛ 🐕
