Great visual on how to properly trim dog nails. Bulldogs are especially prone to abnormal and excessively long nails! I found standing over the dog's waist, securing it between my legs, worked well for clipping. Don't forget the styptic powder to staunch the blood flow if you cut to the quick!

In winter trim just after the dog comes in from the cold because their claws will be less sensitive and less blood flows to the area!

If you have ever wondered about trimming your dog's nails or worried you might hurt them. Great diagram.

One year ago today I received a (partial) explanation for the debilitating symptoms which began to plague me in 2011. From the downy fine hair on my head to my slender webbed toes, many things about me were likely caused by the collagen defect which gives rise to the collection of traits known as Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. I have a probable diagnosis of the hypermobility type of EDS.

For most of my life hypermobility was a blessing and boon until repeated infections likely triggered a degradation of my defective collagen. That laxity now makes fighting gravity a chore on a daily basis, some days more than others.

EDS is an invisible illness. Diagnosis is challenging because not only is it considered rare but expressed so differently in every affected individual that no two people, even in the same family, necessarily have the same traits.

I will never be able to manage the daily responsibilities of operating a kennel but still love and miss the connection of people who bought my dogs and became my friends.

Thanks for listening!

EDS Canada provides knowledge, advocacy and support to individuals and their families living with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.

Twenty years ago today, Barlees Troubull Bruin had nine puppies delivered by C-Section, sired by Ch. Chadklier's Tucker Lad. This was our first litter, from which eight puppies survived and most lived well into their second decade including Bruin.

Thanks to all our colleagues and puppy owners for all the wonderful memories and connections made over the years.

If you fed your dog anything produced by Blue Diamond pet foods, including the Kirkland brands sold at Costco, you will want to check this out. And, we at Adoreabull Bulldogs finally have an answer not only to what was affecting our dogs' health in 2012, leading to the closing of our doors, but also most likely is responsible for the sudden arthritis symptoms experienced by me attributable to reactive arthritis from chronic exposure to salmonella.

Now we're hanging out the laundry, LOL! Tammy McAllister and Vickie Umpleby (http://www.nonniesbulldogs.ca/index.htm) have made room at their homes for Paris, Owen and Contraband, including Paris' five little girls sired by AKC/CKC Ch. Just Braveheart Mr Magic.

Check out more pictures on Tammy's website, www.bulldaciousbulldogs.com. Feel free to contact Tammy or Vickie for more information, as one little girl is still available.

Thank you so much everyone for your kind words on the loss of Crusader. The post does not display on first glance the rest of the announcement, that Trent and I are retiring from breeding so I thought I should post the fact that, ironically, the Apocalypse Litter whelped December 21, 2012 is the final litter to be born under the Trents Adoreabull prefix. We have walked with bullies for more than seventeen years, and will miss it, but are also at a change point in our lives. Thank you to all the people who have shared the journey with us, past and present. Your support, trust, and loyalty has been uplifting, and rewarding, but we are now going to travel in a new direction. Crusader's unexpected passing marked the close to this chapter in our lives, but we know that the next section we write will be amazing also.

Thank you again to everyone who has shared in our Adoreabull experience.

Goodbye Dear Crusader
June 9, 2005 - April 13, 2013

MBIS AKC/CKC Ch. Trents Adoreabull Crusader succumbed to a high fever of unknown origin on Saturday April 13 at 12:45 a.m., two months shy of his eighth birthday. He is now buried in our memorial garden beside Bob.

Unfortunately, this last blow has shattered our fragile hearts; the past three years have been difficult for our family, as many know, and so it is with no small amount of regret that I announce we will no longer be involved in the breeding of bulldogs. I will share more about that on my blog once the right words have come.

A Fond Farewell

The echo of a snuffle
Brings your wrinkled face to mind.
I cherish precious memories
Which you have left behind.
The stirring of a footstep,
And I can't help but smile
Knowing that you walk with me
Through this, the hardest mile.
As you take your place of honour
With those who've gone before,
I cannot help but wonder
How they'll tolerate your snore! (c) K. Bell 1999

Forgot to take pictures at the All About Pets Show today, because of the constant flow of people! A big hello to all the people who swung by the booth...it was a bit of a crush there, LOL! The puppy girls were causing a bit of a bottleneck with their cuteness:)
