I was on YouTube today watching CWA coverage and this popped up. Brought back some good memories of some of our past partners and reminded me that trial wins come and go but those relationships and memories last a lifetime. God has blessed us with this path for our earthly life and through the peaks and valleys His hand is on us and we need to steward what He has given us!

Agribition Open Cattle Dog Foot Trial

I always say practical work comes first for us with our dogs. Well today I had to load calves (I think I have mentioned we have no loading facilities ☺️) and haul back to our supplier. Told MV this morning I was not using a dog because I didn't want to undo all my pre-Agribition prep work. Well... that lasted all of 2.6 minutes! So after Ice had to deal with "Helen the Highland" who did not want to get on the trailer and 19 other bratty kids we went back to the sheep pen to remind him that he needed to be soft and open.
I have no idea how people have stock and not dogs. I failed the "no dog" deal but was reminded that no matter what happens this week we will always appreciate the practical work our dogs do at home.

We will always breed and select for a heel bite! The most helpless feeling is knowing you don't have one.

It has always been really important to me that a dog is willing and able to pull cattle out of corners and tight spots. It's probably one of the most dangerous parts of their job and doing it without upsetting stock or getting themselves hurt is a natural skill but helping them navigate it is one thing I do spend time on. Tikka has a huge heart and lots of try and this is something that I appreciated so much in her father. He would put himself in places that were pretty tight and never got hurt. I took that for granted but now look for this in my youngsters.
