We're open each week FRIDAY: 2–6 PM and SATURDAY: 10 AM–2 PM Farm Store: Thursday 3-5:30 & Saturday 10-1 mid June - mid November 21st. We also have a plant sale in May, and events throughout the summer/fall.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 20, because the Kitchissippi Shores Music Festival is happening right here at BeetBox Farm! We are so excited to welcome the community for a day of amazing music, great food, and the best farm vibes you could ask for.

This is a back-to-basics, grassroots festival celebrating local Ottawa bands and local music lovers. The festival has no corporate sponsors, just community spirit, great tunes, and local vendors serving up food and beverages from Ottawa.

You’re encouraged to enjoy the farm property as much as the music:

🔥 Warm up next to a cozy campfire

The farm store opens for the week today! We’re so excited to welcome you back and share what’s fresh from the fields.

Tomato season is still going strong and we are loving it! This week we’ve got beefsteak (perfect for sandwiches), roma (hello, sauce!), rich brown varieties, and grape tomatoes for easy snacking 🍅

Hey friends! Guess what? We’ve got a whole bunch of local, organic corn on the cob this week! 🌽💛

Organic corn is hard to find, so if you love that sweet, summer flavour, now’s the time to load up. Toss a few on the grill, boil ‘em up with butter, or freeze some so you can enjoy them when the snow starts falling ❄️

Here at BeetBox, we like to think of the beet as our namesake superhero - bright, bold, and packed with powers! Just like us! 💪✨

Beets aren’t just pretty in red ❤️ though. They’re packed with nutrients that boost energy, support heart health, and keep you feeling strong.

And the best part? They’re as versatile as they are powerful. From savoury dishes to sweet treats, beets do it all. Our fave? 🍫 Fudgy chocolate beet muffins! Yes, you read that right! They are rich, moist, and sneakily full of veggies 🤫 Come grab a bunch of beets today and give them a try!

Fudgy Chocolate Beet Muffins

Ingredients:
1 cup cooked and pureed beets
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
½ cup cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
2 large eggs
½ cup sugar
½ cup vegetable oil
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ cup chocolate chips (optional but highly recommended)

Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners.

Mix the dry ingredients, flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt, in one bowl.

In another bowl, whisk eggs, sugar, oil, and vanilla until smooth.

Stir in the pureed beets.

Combine the wet and dry ingredients, then fold in chocolate chips.

Scoop into muffin cups and bake 20–25 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.

Cool slightly, then enjoy.

🥕 This week, carrots are stealing the spotlight! ✨

You think you know carrots… but taste one freshly pulled from the earth and you’ll see: they’re crisp, juicy, and naturally sweet, nothing like the bagged ones at the store. These beauties deserve more than just a supporting role in soups and stews!

Fun fact: carrots have been grown for thousands of years, originally in shades of purple and yellow. The orange variety? A 17th-century Dutch twist! 🥕

🥕 Carrot Care Tips:
✔️ Trim off the greens - they draw moisture from the roots
✔️ Store sealed in a bag in the fridge to stay crisp
✔️ Soft carrots? A cold water soak brings them back to life!

Recipe spotlight - Roasted Carrot “Hummus” 🔥
A creamy, slightly sweet dip that’s perfect with pita or veggies.

What you’ll need:
4–5 carrots
1 garlic clove
1 can chickpeas
Tahini, lemon juice, cumin, olive oil

Roast carrots & garlic at 400°F (20–25 mins)
Blend with the rest until smooth
Season to taste and serve!

🥙 Our shawarma-style garlic paste has been flying off the shelves. It's super garlicky, savoury, and seriously addictive. Grab a jar before it’s gone!

The coyotes have been singing us to sleep lately 🐺 a wild little lullaby drifting through the farmhouse windows. Just one of the many reminders that we share this beautiful patch of land with some amazing plant and animal neighbours 🌾🦌🌙

From curious deer (always first in line to taste-test the crops), to a tiny tree frog who’s definitely in the running for Cutest Farm Resident, it’s never a dull moment out here 🐸

Swiss chard isn’t just tasty, it’s gorgeous. Those rainbow stems! Those leafy greens! If vegetables had a runway show, chard would be the one strutting in a glittery cape 🌈

Nutritionally, it’s a superhero! It's loaded with vitamins A, C, and K, plus magnesium and fibre, and it tastes just as good as it looks! It’s also ridiculously flexible: sauté it, add it to soups, stir it into pasta, or eat it raw in salads.

Looking for some chard inspiration? Try this Miso-Garlic Sautéed Swiss Chard

Ingredients:

1 bunch Swiss chard (wash well, chop stems and leaves separately)
1 tbsp Kamosu Miso (you'll find it in the farm store)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1–2 tbsp olive oil or sesame oil
2 tbsp water
1 tsp rice vinegar or lemon juice
Optional: toasted sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions:

Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat.
Add chard stems and sauté 2–3 minutes until slightly softened.
Add garlic and cook until fragrant.
Stir miso into the water to make a smooth paste, then pour into the pan along with the chard leaves.
Cook until leaves are just wilted and coated in the miso-garlic sauce (about 2 minutes).
Finish with a splash of rice vinegar or lemon juice and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.

Pairs beautifully with rice, noodles, or as a side to grilled fish or tofu.
