We're Marianne and Matt Gee, and we started Gees Bees after uncovering a colony of honeybees living in our wall in 2009. Unable to find someone to help us remove them, we rescued the honeybees ourselves and started caring for them in our backyard. One beehive led to two and then, two led to two hundred. And they led us to Gees Bees

Inspired by the bees, we believe that our individual small actions can have a big impact. A honeybee in her lifetime makes only 1/12th of a teaspoon of honey...it's seemingly insignificant. But collectively the bees make far more than they need, and it's all done for the next generation. We believe that no matter how small, each of our 1/12th teaspoon counts.
Honeybees, other pollinators, and flying insects have seen dramatic declines in recent years. So, in addition to caring for our beehives and working with beekeepers across Canada to produce pure Canadian honey varietals, here's what else we're doing to help.โ
1. We're planting flowers and building building pollinator gardens for you to visit. To stay healthy, bees need a wide variety of flowers for their nutrition. In our gardens, our goal is to have a multitude of flowers in bloom for the bees across the seasons.
2. In addition to flowers, we're also growing a victory garden - a small family vegetable garden and orchard to reduce our personal footprints on the environment.
3. To teach people about honeybees, we've established two Community Supported Pollination Projects, and we offer educational tours and workshops to teach people about honeybees throughout the spring and summer.
