What a great way to wake up! Love these kinds of messages ❤

"I just wanted to write to say OMG I walked Elvis tonight without his choke collar. I applied all the learning from last nights session and WOW amazing walk.

✳️This is the kind of progress we LOVE to see. Tools like prong or choke collars can sometimes mask behaviour in the short term, but for insecure or reactive dogs, they can actually increase stress and make reactivity worse. Instead, we’ve been focusing on building Elvis’s confidence and giving his family the right tools.

Here’s what’s been working for him:
🐾 Training sessions outside the fenced-in dog park to safely practice desensitization and counter-conditioning.
🐾 Neutral walks with Finlay as a calm role model.
🐾 A Y-shaped harness with two leashes, one clipped to the back for security, and one to the front for steering, giving gentle control without pain.
🐾 Quieter environments to reduce overwhelm.
🐾 Nosework games during the day and before a walk to let him decompress, use his brain, and build confidence.

✅When we shift the focus from control to communication, dogs like Elvis can truly shine. His progress after just 3 sessions is proof that positive, thoughtful training creates lasting change. 💡🐶

🐀✨ Great news for sniffy pups! If you’ve been itching to try ratting, Millennium just added a Thursday night Intro class!

Finlay and I have been hooked since last fall—we keep signing up because he absolutely LOVES it. It’s such a fun way to let your dog use their natural instincts, burn energy, and build confidence.

Bonus: if you have a reactive dog, this is a perfect activity since all dogs wait their turn in the car—no stressful mingling, just one-on-one fun!

Registration is now open for two Intro to Ratting classes starting October 16th.
