***Now Closed***

Today is the final day to participate in our Feline the Love 50/50 fundraiser, and your support makes a real difference for cats like Potter.

Two weeks ago, Potter became very sick vomiting repeatedly and unable to keep food down. After multiple vet visits, X-rays, fluids, and close monitoring, she finally found relief following an e***a and is now back to eating well and using the litter box normally. Thankfully, she’s feeling much better – but her care came with significant veterinary costs.

We’re currently at $585 raised and are truly hoping to reach $1,000 by the end of today. We know that’s a big ask, but with the number of recent medical cases and expenses we’ve taken on, this support is greatly needed.

To enter the 50/50, donate $10 for one entry or $25 for three entries. Half of all funds raised will go directly toward our veterinary balance, and the other half will be awarded to one lucky winner.

Donations can be made via e-transfer to [email protected]. Please include “50/50” in the comment section. Entries will be accepted until Tuesday, February 10th at 11:59 PM, and the winner will be drawn on Wednesday, February 11th.

All donors’ first names and last initials will be added to our tracking sheet here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15w7aQ4g7K4-uZXYJ50WuWFMDf0EDh3O999fW-oLQg78/edit?usp=sharing. If you prefer to remain anonymous, please include an alias in your e-transfer comment.

Every entry helps us continue providing urgent veterinary care for cats like Potter.

We need foster heroes who can step in during emergencies — when pets and their families are at risk of being separated with nowhere else to turn.

SAFE foster volunteers keep loved ones together. They provide pets a safe, temporary place to land and families the chance to manage a crisis without the added heartbreak of losing their pet. Right now, more families need this support than we have fosters available.

By becoming a SAFE foster volunteer, you're protecting the vital bond between people and their pets when it matters most. Get involved: https://bit.ly/467ZI1j

Should You Brush Your Dog’s Teeth? 🦷🐶
Did you know 80% of dogs show signs of dental disease by age three? Keeping their teeth clean is just as important as their diet and exercise!
🐾 Use a dog-friendly toothbrush and toothpaste.
🐾 Start slow—let them get used to the taste.
🐾 Dental chews and water additives can help too!
Good dental health = a longer, healthier life! Does your dog let you brush their teeth? Tell me in the comments!

The Right Way to Greet a Dog You Don’t Know 🐕🤝
Approaching a dog the wrong way can make them uncomfortable (or even cause them to react negatively). Here’s how to greet a new pup properly:
🚫 Don’t reach out your hand—this can feel threatening.
✅ Let them approach you first.
✅ Stay calm, speak softly, and avoid direct eye contact.
✅ If the owner gives permission, let them sniff you before you pet them.
Respect a dog’s space, and they’ll respect yours! 🐶💙

Why Cats Love Boxes 🐱📦
You buy your cat a fancy bed… but they sleep in the cardboard box instead. Sound familiar? 😹
Cats love boxes because:
🔹 They provide security and comfort.
🔹 The enclosed space mimics natural hiding spots in the wild.
🔹 It helps them regulate body temperature!
Want to make your cat extra happy? Try placing a soft blanket in a box—it’s a guaranteed hit!
Does your cat have a favorite weird sleeping spot? Drop a pic in the comments!

Why Some Dogs Eat Grass 🌱🐶
Ever caught your dog munching on grass like a tiny cow? You’re not alone! Eating grass is normal for many dogs, but why do they do it?
🔹 Some dogs eat grass to help digestion or because they feel nauseous.
🔹 Others just enjoy the texture or taste!
🔹 It can be a sign they need more fiber in their diet.
If it’s occasional, it’s usually harmless! But if your dog vomits frequently after eating grass, a vet check might be needed.
Does your dog have a weird habit? Let me know in the comments!

If you’ve ever watched your cat stare at an object, slowly push it off the table, and then look at you like they did nothing wrong… you’re not alone!
😼 Cats knock things over because:
🔹 They’re curious about the reaction (gravity is fascinating!).
🔹 They want attention from you.
🔹 It’s part of their natural hunting instincts.
To prevent it:
✅ Give them interactive toys.
✅ Avoid reinforcing the behavior (don't rush over when they do it!).
✅ Offer vertical spaces like cat trees.
Does your cat do this? Drop an emoji if this sounds like your feline friend!

Ever seen your dog suddenly sprint around the house or yard like a tiny tornado? That’s what we call “zoomies” (or Frenetic Random Activity Periods—FRAPs). Zoomies are a normal way for dogs to release pent-up energy, especially after naps or baths!
🐶 They’re common in puppies and young dogs but can happen at any age.
🏃‍♂️ A safe environment is key—avoid obstacles they might crash into.
😄 Zoomies can be a sign of happiness and excitement!
Does your pup get the zoomies? Share a video or tag me in their best zoomie moments!
