This one is way overdue like 2 months 😅- Geo and Ruby came here for a board and train because there was intra household aggression between the two as well as reactivity and aggression towards the owners. The first and last slide makes everything worth it.
Starting with Geo
Triggers for Biting or Aggression when owners were
Leaving the house grabbing clothes, bites to the point of one owner having to distract him while the other gets out and then a race to get out the door.
-Owners phone ringing would cause barking, jumping, nipping, especially toward mom.
Doorbell/house bell: Goes into a frenzy if he thinks someone’s leaving. Reacts even to similar sounds on TV.
-Mail/package delivery: Protective/anxious → has bitten when someone tried to get the door. Garbage/snow trucks: Barks intensely and has snapped when someone moved a curtain.
-Walks : Leash-reactive to dogs, kids, skaters, strollers, bikes, large vehicles, runners, etc. Has nipped them during these episodes.
Word “Bye” on phone: Learned it means someone is leaving → triggers anxious behaviors including nipping.
Vacuuming: Intense barking and needed to be removed from the house to vacuum.
Severe separation anxiety (history of crate confinement, fear of abandonment).
Multiple biting scenarios
Dislikes kids not exposed much
Ruby
Putting on Leash/Collar: Growls, shows teeth, bites when putting on collar/leash, Jackets/Shoes.
Severe bite occurred when pushing her toward crate during Geo reaction - multiple puncture wounds, broke skin deeply
- Bites when moved by collar or carried away from Geo
- growling/looking at Geo
- Turns head to bite handlers during intervention attempts
Resource Guarding
- Guards bones, treats, toys, even paper scraps
- Shows teeth first, escalates to biting if humans don't retreat
Guards bed, treats, bones from Geo
- Steals Geo's possessions
- Prevents Geo from playing or running (bites from behind)
- Would guard furniture access if allowed
- Pushes Geo to walls
- Blocks Geo's movement and access to family
- Won't allow normal dog interactions/play
Both were displaying very fearful behaviors and not comfortable in their home/ neighborhood
