Oh Jakey Boy, we will miss you as a part of our pack. You’re the perfect dog to build any pack with, you’re the quintessential Golden Retriever.
My very first dog walking client, my first shot gun rider and the best treat connoisseur, I am going to miss our weekly cuddles and the way you make me giggle. I hope you find the perfect pack to join in your new area of Ottawa! I am so thankful your family were friends first, because this isn’t goodbye, it’s “I can’t wait I see your new house!” 🥰 🐶

With the current humidity, it’s so dangerous for our beloved pets to be outside for more than 5-10 minutes. They may look like they want to but once they start panting, it’s our sign it’s TOO HOT!
Here are some great ideas on how to keep them stimulated and burn some energy inside. You can find all these links on Pinterest or Google!
1) Simply licking the inside of finished Peanut Butter, Yogurt (plain) containers or finished treat bags
2) putting some blueberries, treats/kibble or other favourite snacks inside these containers and letting them figure out how to get them out
3) if your dog needs some more rigours play, take an old box out of the recycling and let them shred it.
4) rolling treats or kibble inside an old towel and tying a loose knot (or tight depending on how determined your pup is) and letting them get them out
5) creating a lick mat, you can use an actual lick mat or your dogs food bowl. Place some kibble, yogurt, pumpkin pure, blueberries and any other dog Sage treat your pup likes and add a tiny bit of water. Freeze it and let them lick away until they’ve gotten all their treats.
There are some recipes for treats and lick mats. All these puzzles, game and licking will stimulate them and burn about the same amount of energy as being outside for an hour.
