“Lua“
BOSSR Ch Kalmegess’ Lua with Brighteyes WC
January 28, 2009 - November 19, 2020
Lua was put to rest Thursday afternoon. She was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma, an aggressive cancer. Despite the devastating nature of this disease, Lua remained happy, calm, and comfortable through to her last breath.
During her 11 years, Lua completed advanced obedience, agility, rally-o, and therapy dog training. She got her Canadian Championship and qualified for her Working Certificate. She had two litters and has lots of grand puppies and great grand puppies. Through all this, she was my pet, friend, companion, travelling partner, teammate, teacher, business partner, and confidant. Even more, she supported myself and my family members during the good times and the bad. She brought me back to life after several hard episodes of depression, encouraged me to try new things, made my family feel safe, opened the door to new friendships, and brought joy to so many people. She was adaptable, reliable, and consistent... at least for the most part. She gave me confidence. She comforted, grounded, and humbled me many times. Lua was whatever we needed when we needed it. For that, I am forever grateful. Lua is my heart dog and I will love her until the end of time.
Thank you Terri and Mike for entrusting this special, one-of-a-kind dog to me and my family. She came at just the right time and made our lives better. She was a valued member of our family and we will never forget her. And thank you to everyone else who has been a part of Lua’s journey. All of you helped shape her into the dog of my dreams. I hope she made you smile and made you laugh.
Lua, thank you for saving me. I miss you so much. You were the best dog. I will love you forever.
