Update on Canine First Aid Workshop

Unfortunately, we won't be able to hold the upcoming canine first aid workshop, despite the great interest. Since no one registered, we had to cancel this session.

Let’s talk about yearly vaccines — because not enough people are questioning them.

We titre test. Every year. Because we want data, not assumptions. And what we’ve found? Most dogs still have strong immunity years after their last vaccine. So why are we still jabbing them annually? Habit? Policy? Profit?

The truth is, over-vaccination is still happening — not because it’s backed by science, but because it’s easier than updating protocols. And too many clinics are afraid to challenge the status quo. That’s not healthcare, that’s lazy medicine.

Titre testing isn’t “alternative” or fringe. It’s evidence-based. It protects immunity and avoids unnecessary immune stress. But try bringing it up in the wrong vet clinic and watch the conversation get awkward real quick.

It’s time more vets started explaining the actual options — not just printing reminders for outdated vaccine schedules.

You don’t need to be anti-vax to be pro-informed choice.

Laurie’s Canine Consulting is now offering monthly Canine First Aid classes at our Arthur location! Whether you're a pet owner, trainer, or professional, these hands-on sessions will teach you lifesaving skills to keep your furry friends safe.

🗓️ We plan to hold classes every second or third weekend of the month — stay tuned for dates and registration details! Spaces are limited, so reserve early.

Led by a certified Canine First Aid Instructor, these classes are designed to give you the confidence and knowledge to respond effectively in emergencies.

🚨 Toxic Hammerhead Worms Spotted in Ontario! 🪱
What pet owners (and garden lovers!) need to know 👇

Hammerhead worms — alien-looking flatworms with a distinctive shovel-shaped head — have been recently spotted in parts of Ontario. They may look fascinating, but these worms are highly toxic and dangerous to pets, wildlife, and even humans!

⚠️ Why They’re a Threat:

They release a neurotoxin called tetrodotoxin (yes, the same as pufferfish!).

This can cause illness if touched or ingested by pets or children.

They prey on beneficial earthworms and disrupt local ecosystems.

🐾 Pet Safety Tips:

Don’t let pets sniff or eat unknown worms in the garden or on walks.

Wear gloves if you need to remove one — never touch it with bare hands!

Dispose by sealing in a bag with salt, vinegar, or rubbing alcohol.

📍 If you think your pet may have come in contact with one, call your vet ASAP.
