Well it's a bit delayed but I am so proud of all of our riders over the last few weeks! My apologies for the long post, but we are so excited by everyone's progress! So please join me in congratulating the following riders:

Brianna Harvard on Spirit of My Ancestors attended Trilogy at Edenview a few weeks ago, finishing 5th in Novice dressage with her first w/t/c test! She was also 8th in stadium and 5th overall in the Jr. Novice. This team has come so far, and we are excited to watch them learn and succeed this summer! They also had great results at the NCR show yesterday!

Autumn Cooper on Red River Rebellion have been a busy team. Starting at Edenview with a 6th in dressage, 5th in stadium to finish fourth overall in the Pre-Entry division, it was a great first outing.
Their rainy Trillium debut at Burbrooke was also a success, achieving their goals for the day and finishing 6th in the first Table A of the 0.75m division.
Endless Journey they kept improving, and brought home two 4ths in the 0.75m division. Congratulations to this fantastic team, I am so proud of you!

Eva Harvard on Freaky Friday have also been busy! They warmed up with Trilogy where they were 2nd in dressage, 1st in stadium and 2nd overall in the Entry division. They also won the Pre-Training stadium class!
They braved the rain at Burbrooke for their Trillium debut, but were unfortunately out of the ribbons. This was a great learning opportunity for this team.
Endless Journey they were out again in the 0.9m Jumpers, where they were 2nd in the first class and 1st in the medal! Keep up the fantastic work Eva!

Shay Thompson was at Trilogy as well, where she was 8th in dressage, 3rd in stadium and 5th overall in the Entry division. Unfortunately her pre-training round did not go as planned, but it was a learning opportunity and she will be back with a vengeance later in the season!

Emily Lohrbach and Hokey Pokey (owned by Jenny Campbell) made their debut together on Saturday at the Endless Journey Farm Trillium show. They finished 1st, 2nd and 6th in the 0.75m Jumper and brought home the championship! What a way to start a season! I am so excited to watch this partnership progress!

Morgan Garland and Dante (owned by Vicki Taylor) also made their Trillium debut at Endless Journey, finishing 6th, 6th and 1st in the 0.75m Jumpers. There were some learning moments, but they came together to finish on a huge high! Congratulations girl, you earned it!

Jenny Campbell aboard Benny and The Jets also had a great showing at Sky Haven Equestrian where it was Ben's first canter show! They came home with fantastic placings and I am looking forward to seeing Jenny develop this young horse in the future!

I am beyond proud of Shay Thompson tonight. She worked incredibly hard and her dressage lesson on Eden and had some really fantastic results. I am very excited to see what is in store for this team this year. Keep up the great work!

In a very delayed post, we had a great weekend at Edenview Equestrian last weekend!

In her first ever jumper show, Shelby Cavanagh piloted the Backstreet Kid to 3,4,5 in the 0.75m jumpers and finished with a WIN in the medal! What a great way to start her jumper career!

Shaylee Thompson brought out Victoria's Secret to play in the 0.9m class. Although they brought home no ribbons, they learned a lot!

On Sunday, it absolutely poured rain, so thank you to our riders who toughed it out!

Jillian Urie aboard Fox on the Run made her horse show debut taking 3rd in the w/t eq under saddle and 1st in the w/t hunter under saddle. Great job kiddo!!

Kyla finished off our day taking on the 2'3" Hunter divisions where she was 5th in both hunter over fences rounds and 3rd in the hack in large competitive classes.

We are super excited to see these riders progress in the show ring this year! Great job ladies!

Well it's been a while since our last post, so today there will be 2!

Meet Abby! Abby is one of our smallest riders at 6 years old. Abby is a lovely testament to some of the mental benefits of horseback riding lessons.

Abby began lessons with us about a year ago on a bi-weekly basis and has had the winter off. Abby has severe ADD, so having a conversation was difficult and when she came to us listening to and remembering instructions was next to impossible. We began with structured lead line lessons last year focusing on getting Abby focused and comfortable. Slowly we began to see a big change in this young rider and everything came together on Sunday!

Abby was able to come to the barn, hold a conversation with myself and her mother, brush her pony without help, and remembered all of the instructions she was given in her last lesson! These included how to mount and dismount correctly, how to hold the reins, how to walk forward, steer and halt. As you can see, Abby loves her princess helmet and wears it all the times we are in the barn!

I love every step of this journey with all of my riders. Watching them grow into confident young men and women is a wonderful gift!

Wonderful job Abby!

March was a fantastic month of learning here at ABC Stables! So here are some highlights:

Bailey learned lots while she settled into a new job! We are keeping our lessons running but have slowed down our training operations for the time being.
Shelby C. learned how to navigate Buddy around some big sticks!
Heather learned how to get her mare to really collect over fences to increase her scope, with excellent results.
Katie learned how to effectively navigate Tobie around some complex keyhole grids like a champ!
Shelby M. learned how to get her big gelding to listen to her seat and body more effectively.
Cathy has been jumping like a rock-star, and taught Bailey that when the student is going to the wrong grid, if you keep your mouth shut it and take a breath that they will rock it out anyway!
Merissa learned the joys of no stirrup work but did wonderfully!
Jackie learned how to keep her position steadier when there are poles.
Jillian learned to keep her heels down and started learning her diagonals!
Kyla worked very hard on her equitation and learned how to use her posture to control distances to fences. Her lesson last week was her best riding to date!

And the absolute cutest has to go to miss Ella, who learned how to say "Coach Bailey" and absolutely melts my heart! (Video of this to follow).

Looking forward to April!! I am so proud of all of you
