Here’s to a year of Board & Trains in Ontario!

One year ago, I relocated my established business of 18 years to Ontario, where I had to forge my own path. This was something I didn't have to do since I started my business back home in 2008. This move pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me grow as a business owner.

Over the past year, we've welcomed board and train dogs from Massachusetts, Virginia, Michigan, Nova Scotia, and locally. Whether you traveled five minutes or 20 hours, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for trusting us with your dog and allowing me to continue doing what I love. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Our first pack walk in Ontario, It’s been a year in the making of building a small community here.
A monthly meeting/check in where we can talk about training, support each other, socialize (god knows I need it) and work on making our dogs their best selves. Thank you for all who came out!

Walking or in a dog‘s eyes, migrating
is the best way to form a relationship with your dog. Let’s breakdown how to make the most of your walk together.

•”Watch me” starts the walks

•”Mother Henning” to get intuned with your dog

•”Follow me mode “ before proceeding

•”Auto sits” at end of the driveway, crosswalks, road crossings

•Lie down and observe- Absorb surroundings instead of acting upon

•Jump on something scary but safe- Confidence & trust building

•Pace changes-To help with engagement and focus

As a dog behaviorist, these are some warning signs that need to be addressed.

-Still jumping (on people, windowsills doors, fences)
-Barking at every little sound (outside & in)
-Excessive panting (when there’s no reason to be hot)
-Not relaxing after a walk
-Not eating in stimulating times
-unable to relax in stimulating times
-Constant following humans around the house
-Seeking the need to always be on higher ground (couch, chair or bed)
-Plowing out of thresholds

There is always root causes to behaviours at hand. Taking a look at the small things, and guiding them to make better decisions, will help with all behaviours.
