Some hidden gems that've been waiting a little longer… but have so much love to give!

Some of our dogs, cats, and small animals have been in our care for over 100 days (some over 200!), watching others go home while they patiently wait for their turn.

They’re not overlooked because they’re not amazing — sometimes they just need a little extra time, or the right person to see them.🥲

Ready to open your heart (and maybe your couch) to a furry friend? 🐶🐱🐰
These pets are more than ready to finally go home!!!!

If adoption has been on your mind — or you know someone who’s looking — please help us spread the word so these deserving animals can find the loving families they deserve.💙

Meet Delilah!

This 11-month-old girl is a friendly, social kitten who loves being around people. Whether she's bouncing after a a toy, exploring every corner of the room, or soaking up attention from her favourite humans, Delilah brings joy wherever she goes.🥹

Also, her silky coat is impossible to resist! You'll find yourself reaching down for "just one more pet" every time she walks by. Luckily for you, Delilah is more than happy to oblige!

Tiger Lily and Persephone's Happy Tail!

Tiger Lily and Persephone are settling into their forever home beautifully! 🥹
Persephone made herself at home almost immediately, as if she'd always been part of the family, while Tiger Lily has been blossoming a little more each day, growing more playful, confident, and letting her wonderful personality shine.

The girls have officially met and are taking their introductions at their own pace, spending time observing one another and exploring the house independently. Their family says everything is going wonderfully, and they couldn't be happier to have them both as part of their family.

Tiger Lily and Persephone's adopter, Daisy, also wanted to share, "We had a wonderful experience with HSOMH. Everyone we interacted with was kind, helpful, and clearly cared deeply about the animals. We especially appreciated the time and support we were given while getting to know both Tiger Lily and Persephone and deciding to welcome them into our family. Thank you again for checking in and for all the work you do for animals like Tiger Lily and Persephone. We feel very fortunate to have found them both."

This is why we do what we do. Congratulations to Daisy, Tiger Lily, and Persephone!💙

We guess that’s what cat trees are for 🤷

Edgar has been waiting quite some time for the loving home he deserves. He can be a bit shy at first, but with a little love and some persuasion via lick treat — Edgar is down for endless play! Affection isn’t always a priority for Edgar, but he will happily accept head/chin scratches from his favourite people (usually when they start, he never wants them to end🤭).

Let’s show this how much he’s appreciated and find him his people! Share Edgar’s story 🖤

Meet Bailey!

This 1 year old boy loves learning new things, exploring the world one sniff at a time, and earning plenty of treats along the way. He's incredibly intelligent and loves working with his people. Bailey already knows several cues, checks in with his handler on walks, and has made amazing progress during his time at the shelter. The more time you spend with him, the more you realize how great of a dog he is and how he genuinely wants to get it right.🥹

Like many young dogs, Bailey is still building confidence and learning how to keep his excitement in check. He's looking for experienced, gentle adopters who will continue guiding him with patience, consistency, and lots of positive reinforcement.💙

Bailey would thrive in a home where everyone is 16+, there are no cats, and there's a yard to get his energy out in. Although Bailey would do better as the only dog in a home, he's open to dog friendships with proper introduction! Bailey has already come so far, and we know his best chapters are still ahead. If you're looking for a loyal adventure buddy who's equal parts brains, enthusiasm, and heart, Bailey is ready to meet you!

‼️ Please read Bailey's profile before applying at hsomh.ca/dogs
‼️ If you no longer see Bailey on the website, he found a loving home!

Meet 3 of the most senior pets up for adoption at HSOMH!

Senior pets have so much to offer. They often have well-established personalities, appreciate the simple things in life, and are ready to spend their golden years with a family to call their own. Whether it's quiet companionship, cozy naps, or simply having a best friend by your side, these incredible animals are ready to fill your home with love.🥹

If you've been thinking about adopting, we hope you'll consider opening your heart to a senior. Giving an older pet a loving home is one of the most meaningful gifts you can give, AND you'll quickly discover they have just as much love to give in return.
