This tank is proof that simplicity can still be stunning. With the right plant selection, consistent maintenance, good lighting, and a little patience, a low-tech aquarium can thrive without injected CO₂.

Will CO₂ give you faster growth and open up more demanding plant options? Absolutely.

But if your goal is a healthy, lush aquascape that you enjoy every day, don’t let the lack of a CO₂ system stop you. Focus on the basics:
🌱 Choose plants that do well in low-tech setups.
💡 Keep your lighting consistent.
💧 Stay on top of water changes.
🧪 Fertilize as needed.
⏳ Be patient—nature doesn’t rush.

💚 From the Bottom of Our Hearts… Thank You. 💚

What started as a simple hope to help quickly became something far greater than we ever imagined.

Over the past few days, we have witnessed an incredible outpouring of kindness, generosity, and compassion from our community. Whether you donated essential supplies, shared our posts, spread the word, or simply offered words of encouragement—thank you. Every act of kindness made a difference.

Thanks to the overwhelming support from communities across Ontario, True North Aid reached its donation goal within the first 24 hours. Everything that came after was truly the icing on the cake. It was a powerful reminder that when people come together with a shared purpose, amazing things can happen.

Here at Planted Aquaria, we were completely overwhelmed by your generosity. Our store quickly filled from front to back with boxes, bags, and supplies stacked high. Seeing our community come together in a time of need filled our hearts with gratitude and reminded us just how fortunate we are to be surrounded by such caring people.

We are happy to share that every donation has now been delivered to the True North Aid hub in Oakville, where they will be loaded onto one of eight U-Haul trucks heading to Thunder Bay to support families and communities affected by the Ontario wildfires.

While we may never meet the people receiving these donations, we hope they feel the love and support that came with every box, blanket, toy, and care package.

To everyone who donated, volunteered, shared our posts, or helped in any way—thank you. You proved that even during difficult times, kindness will always bring people together.

This is what community looks like.

Together, we are stronger. Together, we make a difference.

Today I woke up and something just didn’t feel right.

The air felt heavy, and there was a strong smell of smoke. I walked around my house and checked my neighbours’ yards, trying to figure out where it was coming from, but I couldn’t find the source.

As the day went on, the sky became hazier. The smoke grew thicker, and the sun took on an eerie orange glow.

That’s when I learned about the devastating wildfires burning across Ontario.

My heart sank.

I cannot begin to imagine what so many families—especially those in First Nations and northern communities—are experiencing right now. In a matter of moments, people have been forced to leave behind their homes, cherished memories, beloved pets, their communities, and pieces of their heritage. Many have lost everything.

Watching the smoke reach southern Ontario today was a reminder that, while many of us are safe, thousands of people are living through the unimaginable.

At Planted Aquaria, we’ve always believed that a business is about more than the products it sells—it’s about people and the community we build together. When our neighbours need help, we want to do what we can.

That’s why Planted Aquaria is proud to be a donation drop-off location for those affected by the Ontario wildfires.
