Uh oh, your puppy notices another dog…
and this is the moment most walks turn into pulling, barking, or chaos.

But it doesn’t have to.

Instead of forcing a heel or correcting the behaviour,
we build something better—
a puppy who chooses to check in with you.

That’s what you’re seeing here 👆
A real-life moment. A real choice.

And that’s exactly what we focus on in Puppy Foundations 🐾

🚫 Socialization is NOT just “meet more dogs”

It’s this. 👇
A puppy calmly checking out something new, weird, and a little unpredictable… at their own pace.

A donkey.
A fence.
New smells.
Different textures under their feet.
Strange sounds.
An animal that doesn’t move like a dog.

👉 This is what builds confidence.

Because real life isn’t a dog park.

It’s:
• people in hats, hoodies, uniforms
• kids running and screaming
• bikes, strollers, scooters
• new environments, surfaces, and noises
• and yes… the occasional donkey 😅

✨ In Puppy Foundations, we focus on:
✔️ calm exposure (not overwhelm)
✔️ confidence building through new experiences
✔️ teaching puppies how to handle the world — not just react to it

Imagine calling your puppy and they actually come.
Imagine walks that feel calm instead of chaotic.

That’s what we start building in Puppy Foundations — real-life skills that make everyday life easier 💛

You might be accidentally reinforcing your puppy’s jumping… without even realizing it.

When your puppy jumps and gets:
• Petting
• Eye contact
• Talking
• Any kind of interaction

That’s rewarding to them.

And what gets rewarded… gets repeated.

The goal isn’t to ignore your puppy — it’s to be intentional with what earns attention.

✨ Calm behaviour = attention
🐾 Four paws on the floor = reward

This is exactly what we focus on inside Puppy Foundations — building the habits you actually want from the start.

I get asked all the time how Harlo is so good at settling in public places like patios, coffee shops, or friends’ houses.

My “secret”?

We practice doing nothing. Since the day I got her, we’ve sat outside and just watched the world go by.

No fancy tricks. No complicated training. Just calm exposure and time.

The funny part? When I tell people this, the most common response is: “I don’t have time for that.”

Guess what? That meal they have to eat? Put it in a Kong and give it to them outside while you sit together and let them watch the world.

Boom — training session done for the day.

Sometimes the most powerful training looks like doing absolutely nothing.

Where does the time go? Happy 5th Birthday Harlo 🥰💕
