A few of the pups in for a beauty appointment in the last few weeks.
I’m booking into June right now which isn’t that far away.
Just a heads-up….the ticks are out in full force. Remember to protect your pup, and yourself from these potentially dangerous bugs. Check your pup regularly even if you use tick repellent products. Shorter hair helps to spot them, but it’s still good to be hyper vigilant and be thorough.

Was at the local Humane Society today grooming a dog. Happy to be able to help there. I have a background in working at two large humane societies in Ontario.
While this is not the dog that I groomed today (that dog was adopted and is going home today 😊), this little beauty and her little brother are also looking for the right home together. I’m hoping to go back next week after she recovers from her spay and give her a new hair do. She deserves some special attention. This little girl is about 6 years old, and I think her chihuahua brother is a bit younger. He has some wire hair, so likely crossed with a small terrier. He has a natural Mohawk too.
If anyone know someone looking to give a home to two very sweet pups, let me know.

It’s been pretty busy at Shear Magic for the last few weeks. May is shaping up to be even busier.
If you haven’t scheduled an appointment you wanted for May, now is a good time.
I do have an appointment available for 1pm on May 4 (Monday), and then I’m booking for May 11 and beyond. I also have very limited space for the last two weeks of May.

Not a common breed and when you do see pictures of them, they are done usually corded. Cording is a LOT of work, and that’s why they aren’t common. This dog is only kept partly corded by its person, and the rest is brushed out thoroughly in the winter, and largely trimmed for the summer. Today’s makeover for Otis included removing the bulky winter hair, and freshening up his partly corded tail and head. This time, I was able to give him a more cuddly look by giving him some Asian Fusion inspired feet. Feedback from the owner was very positive (I surprised her with them only to find out that poodle bracelets had been done in the past and she wasn’t a fan. The subtly of the blending of the feet definitely suits this dog better and the owner really liked them. As a note, I don’t surprise owners without some idea of what they want….so no spiky hair do’s without knowing the customer likes that sort of thing 🙃).

Jade had her spa day today. She got into the mud on a walk the other day, and she wasn’t feeling so fresh afterwards.
Today she had a bath with Yves St.Bernard shampoo and conditioner….its the super duper good stuff when you have a lot of lovely floaty hair and you want to look good when you go to a show or go to see the vet for a special appointment.
I use many different shampoos. Some are for drop coated dogs, some for curly coated dogs. Some are for rugged outdoor dogs, and others for couch surfers. I have shampoos for sensitive skin, shampoos to whiten, shampoos to enhance dark fur.
If you’d like something special for your pup when it visits, let me know. Some shampoos are a little more costly, but I can let you know that ahead of time.
