Kandansk Poodles Regd.

Kandansk Poodles Regd. Breeder of Miniature Poodles, breeding to the Canadian Kennel Club breed standard. MOTCh Vetset Outrageous Fortune SHDCh Am-CD in 1997. Diesel; BPIS Can Ch.

Kandansk Poodles started with the acquisition of the very first Standard Zoe; Can Ch. Although she was not the first poodle, it was with her that our adventure with poodles started. We kept 2 daughter of hers, out of 2 different breedings (BIS Can Ch. Kandansk Don't Pass me By aka Tudi and MBPIG Can Ch. Kandansk Lucky Charmed One aka Phoebe) It is from these 2 girls that all Kandansk Standard Pood

les come down from. To date we have over 20 Canadian champions, 2 American Champions, 3 different Best in show winners, countless Best Puppy in show and Best Puppy in Specialty Show winners. There are now 5 going on 6 generations of Kandansk Standards. Our dogs are flyball Champions, Obedience Champions, Scent Hurdle Champions, chase ability and most importantly Loving pets. In 2015, Rave; MBIS BPIS Can GchEx Am Ch Kandansk All About the Party (a Tudi Grandson) was #1 Male Standard Poodle, #3 standard poodle, #6 non sporting and #1 owner handled non sporting! We are so proud of team Rave. In 2007, we added our first miniature poodle to our homes. Abmaka Kandansk Fast N Furious. We got him "just to have one", but the interest in this variety grew and before we knew it we were looking for our foundation female. J.Lo; Can Ch Sharona's Kandansk Legend TP, came to our home and is where it all started for our minitures. In 2011, we had the #2 Miniature Poodle, #7 Non-Sporting dog and #3 Puppy of All-Breeds in Canada. In 2012, we had the #1 Miniature Poodle and #11 Non-Sporting dog in Canada. In miniatures to date, we have over 20 Canadian Champions, 4 American Champions. As well as our Standards, Our minis have excelled in the Obedience, Rally and Agility rings amassing titles, high in classes and High in Trials along the way. The poodle truly is a "do it all" breed. Kathryn Albrecht - is the founder of Kandansk Poodles with her late husband Mogens. Recently Kathy decided to take a back seat with the kennel and has handed over the reins to Natasha. Natasha Taphorn - Natasha started in dogs at 10 years of age with the family Collies. But her heart always belonged to poodles. Her first Poodle Josh, was never a breeding dog, but rather an obedience dog and her grooming guinea pig. She is a member in good standing with the Canadian Kennel Club. As of 2022, Natasha has taken over the kennel. Kandansk had been in operation for 25 years, so needless to say, this is a legacy she takes seriously. For the time being the primary focus will be on the miniature breeding program, however there are plans to resume the standard program, once out on an acreage. In addition to the kennel, Natasha runs a small homebased grooming salon called "The Pawsh Poodle". The focus is on grooming purebred dogs, with a specialty in poodles.

Not too long ago, I mentioned that it was time for Ada to step aside to let her kids shine… and SHINE they did!!!

Ada’s son, Can Ch Rosebell Goody Goody Two Shoes aka Kristoff, was awarded WD and Best of Winners at the Poodle Club of America National Specialty! Not to be outdone by her brother, Ada’s daughter, BPISS Can Ch Rosebell Goody Goody Gumdrop aka Ona was RWB, Best Bred By in Variety and BEST BRED BY in SPECIALTY!!! Like most specialties the bitch classes are highly competitive and the bred by classes arguably the cream of the crop! Congratulations Heidi Bell for your amazing accomplishments this year! Momma Ada is extremely proud!

Huge gratitude to Heidi Bell (Kristoff and Ona’s breeder and owner) for believing in Ada! Congratulations on these well deserved wins!

Thank you to judges Tina Yuhl (Miniature judge) and Scott Wolfe (Intervariety judge) for these outstanding wins.

Huge thank you to Athena Yu for allowing Rii to be used on Elsa all those years ago. Without that breeding, today’s generation wouldn’t be here!

Thank you to Stacy Gheseger for finding Rii to breed our girl Elsa to and for raising the litter!

Although my part in today’s wins are relatively small, I’m extremely proud of the lineage that contributed and grateful to all the dedicated breeders who are behind the pedigrees of my dogs, and the breeders who have seen the benefits of adding my dogs to their breeding programs. I continue to learn from you all daily… pushing my boundaries, widening my horizons and challenging my expectations of what can be accomplished. On the shoulders of giants of which I stand.

Warning… this will be a bit of a ramble! We’ve had a lot going on over the last little while and we are extremely proud of our dogs and our extended family!

First off Kaulder (Can Ch Esprit Witch Hunter at Kandansk)has his first champion offspring in Willow (Cordial Weeping Willow at Topiary) . Although we didn’t breed Willow, we are very proud of this Kaulder daughter having finished the very day she turned 1 year old. Xander showed her in puppy trim the day before, cut her into pattern and finished her the very next day! Not too bad for an adolescent adult. Congratulations to Willow’s breeder Tracy Dickey and owner Peggy Clarke!

At the recent Camose show the end of March, Monty became a champion winning Best of Breed all 3 days. Monty is formally known as Kandansk Strike a Pose. He is out of Mia (Can Gch Kandansk Infatuation) and sired by Reggie (Can Gch Maezhi Eye Catcher). Monty is the 2nd champion out of Mia’s first litter!

Today the Renissance show, Levy (Kandansk Maezhi Level up) finished his Canadian Championship! He is out of Ada (BISS MBIS MRBIS Staken Kandansk Digital Princess) and sired by Gavyn (Am Can Ch Maezhi Gears Up). With this championship Ada is now a TOP PRODUCER! Thank you Athena for making Levy shine and to both you and Heidi for allowing Gavyn to be bred to Ada!

Also today, we got the official certificate from the Canadian Kennel Club confirming that Ada was in fact #1 Miniature Poodle in Canada for 2025! Making it the 2nd consecutive year she accomplished this…. All the while being bred and raising litters! No small feat. You often hear of males achieving numerous consecutive years of achievement… but females, while being bred is impressive! A true testament to Ada’s quality and resilience! ♥️. Her kids from her first litter, bred by Heidi Bell, embark on their PCA adventure and we wish them all the luck and I wish I could be there! Onna and Kristoff will make their parents proud… I know it!

Lately it’s been a rare occurrence that Kandansk can do a standard poodle update and while this one isn’t our breeding she is sired by one of ours!!!

Cordial Weeping Willow of Topiary aka Willow went to the Alberta Kennel club show at the end of February with Xander Shriver and won Best of Winners all 3 days plus a BEST PUPPY in GROUP! This was her debut weekend and she ended it on 7 points!!!

Willow is owned by Peggy Clarke (Topiary), bred by Tracy Dickey (Cordial) and is sired by our Kaulder (Can Ch Esprit Witch Hunter at Kandansk) Kaulder comes from 5 generations of Kandansk breeding and was the puppy back from Isabelle Loranger out her foundation bitch Can Gch Kandansk The Conjuring CGB CGC TKA FDC ICN VCX ETD RATN HIC.

Willows dam also has Kandansk lines! Her grandsire on the dam side is non other than BPISS Can Ch Kandansk Amun Re Sheldaro aka Giza.

While I know this is a stretch, it warms my heart to see some of my standard poodle pedigrees still making an impact in the breed!!!

Willows’s pedigrees for the grandsires on both dam’s and the sire’s side, are packed full of influential dogs from USA and overseas!

Thank you to all the breeders of all the dogs in her pedigree, whose dogs all are the culmination of years and generations of hard work! On the shoulders of giants of which we stand…. ♥️

While I’m sad my show schedule didn’t line up for her show career, I’m thankful that Xander and Amanda have done such a wonderful job with her!

I’m so excited to see what the future has in store for her!

Proud Grandma over here…. You’d think she was my own! 😂🤷‍♀️😬

I am extremely proud of this duo and this incredible win!!! Huge thank you to Athena and Heidi for everything they’ve done and continue to do for Ada and her kids!

Where has the time gone. Our current litter will be 8 weeks old tomorrow!

Sire: Ch. Rosebell Goody Good Two Shoes aka Kristoff (Reggie x Ada)
Dam: Ch Kandansk The force of Nature aka Jade (Vladimir x Quinn)

These puppies are so much fun and we are enjoying having them.

As Heidi has said, it’s hard to photograph black dogs 😜 but I’m pretty happy with what I’m look g at for an 8 week old puppy!!!

PS: the puppies are 7F bladed on their bums, croups, tummies, chest and sides of neck. What you see, truly is what you get… no corrective grooming here!

Structure evaluations wil be done in Thursday and then decisions will be made as to who is going where.

Sssshhhhh I might still have a boy available to the right show home… so if you are interested, let me know! I need to get serious about going through the rest of my applications before I get too attached. Haha

Ada got mail!!! Now all we need is a performance title to get her Grand Champion Excellent title…. 2026 goals!

It’s been a year since Kandansk had any puppies… but we are pleased to announce the arrival of these 3 perfect puppies!

Born January 6, 1 girl and 2 boys to parents Jade (Can Ch Kandansk The Force of Nature) and Kristoff (Can Ch Rosebell Goody Goody two shoes)

Babies and mom and doing great!

The girl will be staying with Kandansk and already has her guardian home lined up! We are excited to welcome her people back to the Kandansk family! I’ve started going through my questionnaires and reached out to the ones who have been waiting the longest…. I haven’t heard back from those people, so I’ll be moving on with my list. So check your emails in the coming days!!!

In the meantime I’m excited to watch these precious babies grow! We’ve started ENS protocols and the babies are thriving!

Ideas for a litter theme for the registered names are always welcome!!!!

Huge thank you to Athena Lu of Maezhi Miniature poodles and Heidi Bell of Rosebell Miniature poodles for this stunning advertisement to celebrate Princess Ada’s accomplishments over the last 2 years, resulting in her being #1 Miniature Poodle in Canada for both 2024 & 2025!

Athena bred Ada’s sire; Rii (Maezhi Charismatic Knight) and also has a son out of her 2nd litter. Heidi leased Ada for a litter and now has a stunning daughter and son!

It’s bitter sweet, but Ada is officially retired (hair has been cut off 😢). She’s a Multiple Best in show winner, Specialty Best in Show winner, multiple Reserve Best in Show winner, a grand champion silver and maintained her top ranks all the while having 2 litters over the last 2 years. She achieved all of her wins in the show ring in only 15 weekends….total. A brood bitch’s value is in the whelping box, to which she certainly has proven herself there! It’s time for the next generation to take center stage!

Stay tuned!!!

The moments when it’s over…

We all carry our own funny little rituals through life, and the dog show world is no exception. When a dog is being specialed, everything becomes uniquely theirs: the show lead used only for them, the tweaks to their diet, the crate they always settle into at shows, the pad that fits just right, the walking lead in their color, the grooming products and routine dialed in over time. Young hopefuls in the wings don’t get that level of ceremony yet. Their collars are swapped, leads get borrowed, and whatever is handy becomes “theirs” for the day. But the specials… they have their own universe.

We pour years into them - training, traveling, practicing until we move as one. There are the quiet dawn mornings and the frantic ringside scrambles, the long flights and even longer drives where it’s just you and your dog and the road. They’ve carried our worries, our celebrations, our whispered hopes. They’ve heard us laugh, cry, and process life somewhere between grooming tables and gas station coffee. They’ve shared fancy dinners and McDonald’s fries. You reach a point where you know every nuance of them. How they think, what they need, how they’ll react, and exactly how every hair on their body behaves in and out of coat.

And then, one day, it’s over.

The final left-hand circle has been run. Another dog steps into the spotlight. Their name slowly slips from results and rankings. Sometimes we’re ready. Goals have been achieved, a promising youngster waiting for their turn, or simply a peaceful sense that it’s time. Other times life steals the decision from our hands.

But it’s in that small, sacred moment, when you put their show lead away for the last time, that everything comes rushing back. Every mile, every road trip, every quiet adventure. The good, the bad, the learning, the grace. The people they brought into your life. The next generation they helped create. All the joy they carried with them, without ever saying a word.

As I officially retire their lead, as I retrain my muscle memory to stop preparing their meals a certain way, as I catch myself filling out entries and instinctively reaching for their name first…I’m reminded of all the moments we lived together. All the stories and relationships I wouldn’t have if not for the privilege of standing beside them in the ring.

And in that remembering, I also feel the spark of what’s still ahead. The future dogs, the future journeys, the future moments waiting to unfold.

I’ve been a little selfish holding onto Ada’s final Best in Show photos and photo shoot in her Continental trim. I sit back and smile, reminiscing on her amazing (albeit unorthodox) journey. But sometimes all it takes is a group of people, with unwavering belief and determination to see a goal come to life.

Ada embodies true poodle personality. While misunderstood in her youth, the mature Ada is charismatic, energetic, stoic, assertive, compassionate, endearing and undoubtedly a clown. She LOVES EVERYONE! I often had to let her see her friends ringside before we went in the ring, or it was like trying to control a fish on the lure while showing her, due to her pure excitement and joy. Her tail would wag from side to side like a golden retriever… how could you get stern with her for being happy.

At her final show, one of the judges (after learning of it being her retirement weekend) asked me if I was sure I wanted to retire her. My response was…. She has nothing left to prove. She’s won under breeder judges and all breed judges, specialties and all breeds. She’s produced 2 litters and nearing top producer status… and in 3 years of showing as a special, was only shown 15 weekends (her record speaks for Itself) She was #1 miniature poodle in 2024 and is currently ranked #1 miniature poodle for 2025. While this may not seem like an achievement for some, as it’s often done by males…. But not females who have had litters inbetween being shown. Hormone hair is a thing! 😉 and while she’s finally recovered fully from her last litter (hair wise…. Her figure never faltered) and it may be a little bitter sweet to cut it all off…. But she’s earned it! Besides…. She’s earned the head rubs!!!

Huge thank you to all of Ada’s people (you know who you are 🥰) for believing in her and encouraging me to keep going!

What’s in store for Ada… puppies and performance titles! We have our sights set on that GchEx title and versatility titles! Stay tuned!
