The world lost a legend. Endo - you were an amazing inspiration.
The WA Horse Council joins the global horse community in mourning the passing of the remarkable Endo the Blind Horse, who died this week at the age of 26.
Endo’s story touched horse people around the world.
Originally born with sight, Endo later developed severe eye disease, including Equine Recurrent Uveitis, glaucoma and cataracts. At 12 years of age, both eyes were surgically removed to relieve his pain. What followed was nothing short of extraordinary.
With the quiet guidance and unwavering partnership of his owner, Morgan Wagner, Endo learned to navigate the world without sight. Through patience, trust and voice commands, he went on to perform at liberty, travel widely, and demonstrate to the equestrian world that horses are capable of extraordinary adaptation.
Endo became a global ambassador for the resilience of horses and the depth of the horse–human bond. He understood nearly 50 voice commands, performed at liberty at equestrian events, and inspired hundreds of thousands of followers who watched his journey online.
His achievements were remarkable. Endo earned three Guinness World Records, including the highest free jump by a blind horse, the fastest time weaving poles, and the most flying changes in 60 seconds. He also reached Master Level in dressage, proving that blindness did not define his ability.
In recent weeks, Endo’s health declined due to complications from kidney disease. Despite intensive care and every effort to stabilise him, his condition worsened and the compassionate decision was made to let him go peacefully.
Our heartfelt condolences go to Morgan Wagner and the many people around the world who were inspired by Endo’s courage and spirit.
Run free, Endo.
You changed the way the world sees horses. 🌈🐎
