Walking three reactive Frenchies felt like pure chaos…tangled leashes, constant pulling, stopping every two seconds to p*e, and even redirecting on each other when they got too amped up.

Our January & February graduates! 🎓

We had a busy start to the year working with some awesome pups, helping them tackle a variety of common challenges like reactivity, separation anxiety, counter surfing, and leash manners. We even had a unique case of a dog who loved hunting for trash (and eating it!) on walks, which made outings tricky for her owner, but with some training and teamwork, we worked through it and couldn’t be happier with the results. Way to go, Sadie!

Every dog’s journey looks a little different with goals unique to them, and we’re so proud of the progress they made alongside their humans.

Puppy struggles are real, especially when it’s time to introduce leash walking. It’s awkward and new, and most of the time they fight it. Our tip: prep your puppy by teaching the basics of leash pressure in your home. Just like Chai and his owner, their daily training consisted of walking around their home with the leash on. Once they have a better understanding, it’ll make walks much easier outdoors!

A simple exercise that has a big impact💥

Playing this little game might seem silly, but building Oatmeal’s confidence will ultimately help to reduce other behaviours such as reactivity. Plus, who doesn’t love a problem solving activity?! 🧠

“We’re busy at the moment so we won’t be able to commit to training”...”It’s just a phase”...and so on and so on. We’ve all said these things at some point!

What some might not realize is the longer you wait, the more work you’ll have to do in the future...so you might as well start now. It’s easier to start them off on the right track rather than undoing all the bad habits later on.

Plus, training your dog shouldn’t be something you dread. The process is always rewarding AND your bond with your pup strengthens!
