Top 10 ways to spot a backyard breeder:

1) they breed several litters closely together several times a year

2) they don’t health test their dogs according to OFA ( or another recognized canine health organization) recommendations

3) they offer no health guarantees

4) their dogs do not have show or working titles

5) they allow puppies to leave before 8 weeks of age( minimum recommended age by the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association)

6)they only ever breed to their own dogs

7) they offer “ purebred “ puppies without registration papers

8 ) they don’t belong to a kennel club

9) they sell puppies on Kijiji/Craigslist

10) their puppies are much less expensive than those sold meeting the standards mentioned above because they put very little effort and money into their breeding programs!!

If you’re considering purchasing a purebred puppy please DO YOUR HOMEWORK
