💛 Big feelings = big wins 💜
This is a long-overdue shoutout to Tug and his mom for all the work they’ve put into our Walk & Train program these last few months!
When we first started working together, this is where we were: big, explosive reactions at the sight of dogs.
But through working together, we’ve found SO MUCH success 🙌 The wins keep stacking up and Tug keeps surprising us with his good decisions!!!
But I also want to be very clear that this reel is only showing you a tiny fraction of the story.
There was so much more that went into getting these wins!
In our Walk & Train program, our work starts with deeply understanding each dog-human team because everyone is unique.
You, your dog, your lifestyle, your environment…it’s all different from one family to the next.
But you just want quick fixes…this is not the program for you because our approach is all about going deep, understanding where the behaviours are truly coming from, and building from there.
This includes looking at your routine, making sure we’re meeting needs, building more structure and predictability to navigate life together more easily, and using lots of play and games to help your dog break away from fixation and reconnect with you and so much more!
Now, does this mean Tug never has reactions anymore?
Hell no, our journey is still ongoing 😅 just this week, he had a big reaction BUT even this came with a win 🏆
His mom messaged me about it and instead of seeing it as this huge setback, she was able to say, “Okay, that was embarrassing, but I learned something!”
And I think that’s such a huge part of what training is all about.
Building the skills, awareness, and resilience to recover, learn, and keep moving forward together 💜
Tug and his mom are doing amazing, and I can’t wait to keep building on these skills together!!
(Pssst… if you live in New West and are also struggling with your dog’s reactivity, we’re currently taking new Walk & Train clients 🙌
