Canada Day Fireworks Reminder: Keep Your Pets Safe! 🇨🇦🐾

While fireworks are a fun way to celebrate Canada Day, they can be frightening and stressful for many dogs. Loud noises and bright flashes may cause panic, leading some pets to run away or injure themselves trying to escape.

Here are a few ways to help keep your dog safe:
🐶 Keep your pets indoors before the fireworks begin.
🏡 Create a quiet, comfortable space with familiar blankets or toys.
🎵 Play calming music or turn on the TV to help mask the noise.
🦴 Offer a favorite treat, toy, or puzzle to provide a positive distraction.

☀️ Grateful for the Warm Weather… and a Friendly Pet Safety Reminder 🐾

We’re enjoying the sunshine and warm weather here at Animal Hospital on Hwy 11b—it’s a great time to get outside with our pets!

However, warm weather also means an increase in ticks, fleas, and other parasites that can affect your pet’s health.

Here are a few quick reminders to help keep your pets safe:

✔️ Use year-round parasite prevention recommended by your veterinarian
✔️ Check your pets for ticks after walks, hikes, or time in wooded/grass areas
✔️ Pay close attention to ears, under collars, between toes, and around the neck
✔️ Keep grass trimmed in your yard when possible
✔️ Contact us if you find a tick or notice unusual skin irritation

Ticks can transmit diseases to both pets and humans, so early prevention and removal is important.

If you’re unsure what protection is right for your pet, our team is happy to help.
