I’m not really sure of where to start this post, but let’s just say karma has a way of shining thru.
Days after the last ©️round robin in February, we unexpectedly lost our dear friend Rob Robinson (Rob was tied at the top of the high point standings ~ leading the heading ~ at the time of his passing).
Days after the news broke, I received two phone calls from Dennis Hambling and Karen Bregar telling me to give their points (in the standings) to Dyllan (Rob’s daughter). Their kind and selfless act was an example of how our tight knit roping community comes together to support one another.
Our saddle was sponsored entirely by Manness Rope Horses (Bill and Val Manness). Bill and Val stepped up at the beginning of the series (without me asking) and wanted to make this series special. Please be sure to thank Bill and Val next time you see them, give them a call, send them a text or simply shake their hand next time you cross paths. Be sure to talk to Bill when you’re looking for your next rope horse prospect, he’s been in the game for years and thanks again for providing me a nice horse to flag the roping on.
Our saddle winner was Dyllan Robinson who picked up right where Rob left off. Congratulations Dyllan!!
Karen Bregar didn’t win a lot of money throughout the series (usually crying hole) but her consistency throughout the winter paid off. Karen placed second last night in the finals which put her on top of the standings as the high point header. She took home $800 and a very nice buckle sponsored by Heartland Aluminum Trailers (Weldon Peters). Weldon has a trailer shop in High River, Ab and does all kinds of trailer repairs. He also is the brains behind those fancy aluminum horse trailers going down the road that hold their value better than any other brand. Thank you for your support Weldon!
It was the same sort of scenario on the heel side… Dennis Hambling won first place heeler, taking home $1,300 and the high point heeling buckle, sponsored by Rodeo Insurance (Alanna Perrott). For all of you that love to do crazy things like rodeo, dirt bikes or anything else that other insurance companies won’t cover, Rodeo Insurance has you covered. Talk to Alanna, she’ll get you set up. Thanks Again Alanna!
Top header of the night was Colleen Pentlechuck (who rode a horse bred by our saddle sponsor, Manness Rope Horses). She roped very well and won $1,300 cash.
Second place heeler is a guy I don’t know a whole lot about, but he roped very well, Ricardo Alvarez. Ricardo won $800 cash for his efforts.
Thank you to everyone who came out and entered all winter, my office gals Beth and Roxanne, Lexi on the gate and Allan Top for helping Lexi, our (rope) stripper Michelle Mahon and to anyone else who lended a hand, THANK YOU.
Also a huge thank you to anyone else who contributed to the donation box for Dyllan and Chase Robinson. Every little bit will help these young ladies navigate thru the future.
See you next winter,
Clint
