Axle is healthy, microchipped, fully litter trained, affectionate, and easygoing. He loves cuddling, spending time with his person.

He is leash and harness trained and loves safe outdoor time.

Axle eats a urinary-care, chicken-based diet and has had no recurring urinary issues.

I’m looking for someone who can provide Axle with love, attention, companionship, and safe outdoor enrichment. ❤️

Many cats do seem to enjoy having another cat around—but it really depends on the individual.
Cats that are introduced thoughtfully, have compatible personalities, and have enough space and resources (like separate litter boxes, food stations, and resting spots) can form close bonds. They may groom each other, sleep together, play, and provide companionship, especially if they're left alone during the day.

That said, not every cat wants a feline companion.
Some adult cats are happiest as the only cat in the household, and forcing an incompatible pairing can lead to chronic stress or conflict.

A good rule of thumb is:

Kittens often adapt well to another kitten.
Cats that have lived peacefully with other cats before are more likely to enjoy companionship again.
Personality tends to matter more than breed or s*x.
So the statement "cat-to-cat companions are the best" is true for many cats—but the best companion is ultimately one whose temperament and introduction are a good match.

They're Communicating

A common concerns I hear is,
My companion animal is so picky

While that can sometimes be true,
a change in appetite is often a form of communication rather than a behavioral issue.

Before labeling a companion animal as "picky,"
consider what may have changed:

• Has the food changed or become stale?
• Could they be experiencing nausea or oral discomfort?
• Are they in pain or developing an underlying medical condition?
• Have medications, routine, environment, or stress levels changed?
• Or have they learned that waiting results in more desirable food?

Appetite is an important indicator of health.

While an otherwise healthy companion animal skipping an occasional meal is not always cause for concern,
persistent changes in appetite should prompt curiosity rather than assumption.

Instead of asking,
Why are they being picky?
ask,
What might they be trying to communicate?

Careful attention to subtle changes in appetite can help identify health or wellness concerns earlier and ensure our companion animals receive the care they need.

Nose work and mental enrichment are essential components of canine welfare and should be valued alongside physical exercise.

Dogs experience their environment primarily through their sense of smell, and allowing them time to investigate scents provides important cognitive stimulation, supports emotional wellbeing, and can help reduce stress and frustration.

While exercise remains important for physical health, walks should not be measured solely by distance or pace.
Opportunities to sniff, explore, and engage with their environment fulfil natural behavioural needs and contribute significantly to overall quality of life.

Encouraging owners to include regular "sniff walks" or nosework activities is a simple, evidence-based way to promote both mental and behavioural health in our dogs. 🐾

✨ Try these tips:
🐶 Go at your dog's pace.
🦴 Pair the nail clippers or grinder with tasty treats.
✋ Start by simply handling their paws before attempting a trim.
⏸️ Trim just one or two nails at a time if that's all your dog is comfortable with.
💖 End every session on a positive note, even if you only practiced.

Remember, the goal isn't to finish all the nails in one sitting—it's to help your dog build confidence and trust over time.
