🥏 JUDGING K9 FRISBEE LEAGUE PLAY

TWO SIDELINE JUDGES ALWAYS REQUIRED

SCORE THE TRAILING PAW

HONOR THE HONOR SYSTEM

The 90:/5 June Season begins tomorrow with 140 Clubs registered around the world. Before the discs start flying, here’s a quick reminder about how League play is judged.

Yes, League is fun.

Yes, League is casual.

But League is still a competition, and everyone needs to know and follow the rules.

TWO SIDELINE JUDGES ARE ALWAYS REQUIRED

Every officially scored League round requires two Sideline Judges—one on each side of the field.

Why? Because it’s impossible for one person to accurately judge both sidelines. Two judges provide the best view of catches, boundaries, and scoring zones.

This isn’t just the Captain’s responsibility. It’s everyone’s responsibility.

If you step to the starting line and a sideline judge is missing, speak up. Ask fellow Club members to help. Don’t begin your round until both judges are in position. A round played without two sideline judges is not a legitimate League round.

Worldwide Championship Note: Championship play also requires a Line Judge to watch for and call foot faults.

SCORE THE TRAILING PAW

In K9 Frisbee Toss & Fetch League, the scoring zone is determined by where the Trailing Paw lands.

The Trailing Paw is the paw closest to the starting line. Most often it’s one of the back paws, but if a dog spins around during the catch, it could be a front paw.

If a dog catches the disc in the air with all four paws off the ground, watch where the Trailing Paw lands and score that zone.

If the Trailing Paw lands short of a scoring line, the lower zone is awarded—even if the front paws have crossed into the higher zone.

And remember one of the most important League judging principles:

The Line Is Your Friend.

If the Trailing Paw lands on the line, the higher scoring zone is awarded.

ANY PAW IN-BOUNDS COUNTS

For a catch to be scored in-bounds, any paw must be touching the field inside or on the sideline.

KNOW THE RULES. SHARE THE RULES.

Every League member should take a few minutes to review the judging rules and share them with fellow Club members. Volunteer to judge. Help new players learn. Ask questions when you’re unsure.

HONOR THE HONOR SYSTEM

The success of the K9 Frisbee Worldwide League depends on everyone working together to ensure fair play.

Know the rules. Follow the rules. Help others follow the rules.

If you see an error, politely point it out. Peer oversight—everyone watching, helping, and correcting one another—is what allows thousands of teams around the world to compete fairly every season.

Good luck, have fun, and call them like you see them.

Good luck to all 140 Clubs listed below as the 90:/5 June Season gets underway tomorrow! 🥏🐾
