This story goes back 11 years.
At the time, I was working with an amazing woman from Cornwall named Michelle. Back then, this incredible dog was called Azezel—today, his name is Chance.
One day, I received an emergency phone call. A shepherd had gotten loose and was hit by a car. Terrified and badly injured, he managed to make it back home, ran upstairs, and collapsed. His owner couldn't move him, so a call for help went out.
Michelle reached out to me, and what followed was a logistical nightmare. Azezel was over 8 hrs away
I happened to have a friend with a private plane, so I made a call. The dog would need to be strapped to a board for transport. But that was only the beginning. We needed permissions, transportation to the airstrip, transportation upon arrival, and an emergency surgical team ready to receive him.
Within hours, an incredible group of people came together and made it happen.
We carefully got Azzy out of the house, secured him to a board, transported him to the airport, and onto the plane. He made the flight and was rushed into emergency surgery. The surgery was extensive, but thankfully, it was successful.
After a long recovery, Azzy was adopted by an amazing family. He now lives in Woodbridge and is absolutely spoiled rotten—the way every dog deserves to be. Despite his difficult start, he's living an incredible life.
Every time I receive an update or see a photo of Chance, I smile and think back to that day. I'll never forget the people who dropped everything to help save one dog.
Second chances can mean everything. ❤️
If you're thinking about it, adopt. You never know how much a second chance can change a life.
And looking at Chance today, I'd say his second chance turned out pretty amazing.
Thank you to Michelle, Gerald, and the 404 🤍
