🧵More Handmade Hugs...

This week, we were gifted another beautiful collection of handmade quilts for those who access shelter.

A heartfelt thank you to the incredible women behind these creations, including Susan Fuller and Annette, as well as the other important ladies who are a part of this quilting crew, but who I am unable to tag! Your kindness helps us to offer something truly meaningful, a quilt to take with them when they leave, bringing warmth, comfort, and a reminder that they are not alone.

We’re so grateful to everyone who has shared their time to support families in this way. Every quilt has meaning

💜Help Us To Create a Safe and Welcoming Space💜

As we prepare to open Kirsten's Place, we have been overwhelmed in the very best way by the kindness and generosity of our community. So many of you have reached out with offers of items to help us furnish the space and care for those that we will serve. Please know how deeply appreciated that is.

To make sure that we are ready to welcome families into the shelter, we need to ensure that all supplies meet specific guidelines and are consistent across every room. For this reason, unfortunately some of the items that we accept must be new and unused at this time.

To help guide those who still wish to give, we’ve put together a gift registry with the items we need most before opening day.

Each contribution helps us move one step closer to opening our doors and saying.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for walking alongside us.

Please note that eventually we aim to create a program where your used bed linens, towels and household items as well as furnishings and other items can be donated to those leaving the shelter as they begin to rebuild their lives. Please stay tuned on our website and social media in the future for more information. Due to storage capacity issues we are unable to begin at this time.

🫶PROJECT PLAYHOUSE!🫶

🎉🏠 What happens when a whole community shows up with tools, heart, and a cause worth building for? You raise $53,010 and make a whole lot of magic happen for Kirsten’s Place, our county's first emergency shelter for those fleeing family violence. 💜

On Canada Day, the Bank of Montreal parking lot became a full-on celebration of community strength and generosity, marking the grand finale of a six-week ticket-selling campaign and the unforgettable Playhouse + Climbing Wall Challenge.

👦👧 Judging duties went to the children of BGC Olds and Area, who picked the winners - Thanks kids!

Huge thanks to our tireless coordinator Deborah Rice-Salomons for pulling this all together and to the 50+ businesses and organizations across Mountain View County, Airdrie, Rocky View, and beyond who sold tickets, showed up, and gave back.

This was more than just a fundraiser; this was community in action. 💪💜

Our fundraising page couldn’t have said it better, thank you all so very much from our hearts to yours for the amazing efforts of this years radiothon. So much time, energy and generosity goes in to these events and it never goes unnoticed. Thank you to each and everyone of you for everything that you have done to support Kirsten’s Place! 💜

A huge shout out to Rosehill Auction Service Ltd and Olds Auction Mart for a fantastic job with running our online auction once again! We are so grateful for your continued sponsorship and for the hardwork put in by Debbie and the rest of the team to ensure a smooth running auction.
Our fundraiser efforts would not be complete without all the input by the talented on-air team from 965_theranch (and don't forget Bernd, who made a special return appearance for the day! ) Together you all made for a very memorable day, despite the rain! It was a pleasure having you join us in the office as you broadcast live from Royal LePage Wildrose Real Estate. (Thanks also to Tim Hortons Olds, for the coffee and donuts, and to McDonalds Olds for the plentiful supply of hot chocolate and still warm cookies! ) Also a huge thanks to the Olds Kiwanis team of volunteers who braved the rain to provide the outdoor barbeque!
