Its hot out there!
We are in the middle of our first heat event of the summer. Heat stroke can develop quickly, so ensure your pets have access to plenty of shade and water. Dogs that are overweight, brachycephalic (short nosed), dark coated, long haired and those that are young, are at higher risk of developing heat stroke. Symptoms include lethargy, heavy panting, bright red gums, excessive salivation, vomiting/diarrhea and collapse. If you suspect your pet is experiencing heat stroke, move them to a cool area and seek veterinary care immediately.

Officially on vacation until April 15th! I am out of country & will not have data, therefore will not be checking in until we get back to Canada. It’s time to disconnect & recharge my batteries. Going to soak up some sun with some of my favorite people in one of the most beautiful countries! See you all in a couple of weeks! ☀️

Tick season is here!!

Tick season is here! The faster you remove a tick from you or your pet, the less likely it will transmit disease. The best method of removing a tick is with tweezers or tick twisters. It is not recommended to burn the tick, use essential oils, nail polish or other liquids. These methods are ineffective, can cause injury to your pet, and can increase the risk of disease transmission. Follow the instructions below, save the tick in a sealed container and visit www.etick.ca to submit the tick for identification. Starting your pets on a tick control product can greatly reduce the risk of disease transmission as well. Speak to a veterinary staff member about the safe and effective products available to help protect your furry friends.
