UPDATE: ADOPTED!!!

Although we're technically on a break from social media, we are making a special exception for our current Manitoba Mutts Dog Rescue Inc. foster, Rapunzel! πŸ’•πŸΎ

This sweet gal is hanging out with us until she finds a suitable foster or forever home! 🏑

She loves to play and spend time with our girl, Mandy but can be hit or miss with other canine pals, so an introduction would be required to any potential new fur siblings!

Please contact MMDR for more information!

Much like humans, your pet can get sunburned, particularly if they have light skin and hair, which can cause pain, peeling and skin cancer. It’s important to make sure you’re protecting your pets from the sun by providing ample shade.

Also, talk with your veterinarian about sun protection and sunscreen...there are brands specially formulated for pets!

It sure is a hot one out there!!

Did you know dogs can't sweat ? Instead, they depend on panting to take in cool air and regulate their temperature. If they only have hot air to breathe, their temperature increases, putting them at risk of heat stroke.

Which is why you should NEVER leave a dog in a vehicle.

Dog fur is great protection against the cold but can be a problem in hot weather. This is because, unlike humans, dogs eliminate heat by panting. (Dogs have some sweat glands in the footpads which help with heat dissipation, but only minimally.) When panting isn’t enough, their body temperature rises. This can be fatal if not corrected quickly.

What To Watch For:
- heavy panting
- difficulty breathing
- excessive thirst
- bright red tongue
- thick saliva, drooling, vomiting and/or diarrhea
- unsteadiness and staggering
- lethargy

*Always remember to ask your Vet when it comes to your dogs health.
