It's MYTHBUSTER time!

The core vaccinations for every horse, regardless of their travel status, include Rabies, Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE), Western Equine Encephalitis (WEE), West Nile Virus (WNV), and Tetanus.

Unfortunately, mosquitoes, bacteria, and rabid animals do not discriminate when it comes to infecting horses. Whether a horse is in a freshly bedded stall, wide open pasture, or on show grounds, mosquitoes can potentially infect your horse with life threatening diseases such as EEE, WEE, and/or WNV.

Tetanus is a common clostridial bacteria present in the dirt and can infect a horse who has never left its home just the same as a horse who shows every weekend if it doesn't have proper vaccine status.

Rabies is a 100% fatal disease once clinical signs are present and is easily transmissible to humans and other animals both at home and on the trails.

It's also important to note that different regions in the U.S. may have additional "core" recommendations so be sure to ask your veterinarian what is best for your horse!

PHONE CONSULTATIONS
I offer phone consultations for many different subjects: mild colics, nutrition (mostly for at risk cases of laminitis (founder), tying up, or just general health) and other minor problems (foot abces).
A lot of these problems can simply be managed with a phone consultation, or I can also refer you to the on call vet or to st-hyacinthe if need be.
Phone consultations are charged by hourly rate (219$/h during business hours (monday-friday 9am-4pm) and 328$/hour outside of business hours) and I send you a detailed summary of the discussion we had with the important steps to take for your particular horse. If you wish to have a phone consultation on a certain topic don’t hesitate to ask!

CONSULTATION TÉLÉPHONIQUE
Savez-vous que j'offre des consultations téléphoniques sur plusieurs sujet? Je charge à mon tarif horaire (219$/h pendant heure d'ouverture(lundi-vendredi 9am-4pm), 328$/h extérieur des heures d'ouvertures)
Par exemple: colique léger, alimentation (en particulier pour chevaux à risque de fourber, tying up, santé générale) et autre problème mineur (abcès de pieds).
Plusieurs des problèmes mineurs peuvent être simplement gérer par une consultation téléphonique ou je peux vous référer au vétérinaire de garde ou à st-hyacinthe selon le besoin. Après avoir fini la consultation téléphonique je vous envoie par courriel la facture avec des notes détaillé de ce qui a été discuté et des étapes à suivre. Si vous voulez une consultation téléphonique n’hésité pas à demander.
