TLDR:
Coming back to my account after a brief hiatus, and I need a name for this little one.
She came to me with no story, so it’s important that she have one in the eternity of her death!
Ngl, I might turn this into a habit. Naming the unnamed. Not to replace who they were, but give them a story to take back to the dirt with them.
Long-version
I had to take a break from social media to focus on the front lines of my community and honestly my own mind,
As we all must do these days…
But today my heart is with this little darling girl I was given after she passed away waiting to be adopted from a local rehabber. Likely she was dealing with an internal infection due to the green patches in her skin and the ruin that was her organs inside her little body.
Our reptiles are treasures whose bodies are incredible diversely adapted to their environments in ways that can’t adapt like we can in our mammalian bodies.
They are so sensitive and susceptible to dangers they can’t even understand, so it is our jobs to be diligent and committed to getting them regularly checked by licensed veterinarians at least once a year!
They may be in your life for only a short while, but you govern the course of theirs in their entirety. It’s up to us to give them the best lives that we can for each one of them.
I don’t know this little girl’s story, but while she is in my house she is mine, and I love her.
Stay tuned as I attempt to preserve her skeleton in my learning process as an amateur bone cleaner and striving taxidermist on this little island!
