In 2019, we had a crisis of dogs. In the seven weeks enveloping our wedding, we lost all four of our boys. It was heart wrenching, to say the least. Then, ten days later, in trotted this little fire cracker named Roxy. She was so full of life and so obviously brave and I knew immediately - this girl is going to live until she’s 15 years old. You watch everybody, I said, she’s gonna do it! And you’ve all heard me say it a multitude of times since then, after every liver crisis, after cancer, after every surgery from her head to her tail - she’s a survivor. She’s our Brave Little Toaster.
Until she wasn’t. Until, one day, the fight in her just drained out, and no matter what or how hard we tried, we couldn’t get it back. She looked at us and said “it’s time, I’m ready”.
At 15.5 years old, Roxy will leave us this morning, here at home, in about an hour. Then Shawn will take her to be cremated this afternoon, never leaving her side, and he will return home with my perfect little girl with all the pep in the world reduced to ashes in a box.
We know you all loved her too. Please join us in grieving our beloved girl Roxy: Nov 22 2010 - July 21 2026.
Watch for me girl - I’ll see you soon. ❤️. How can I ever say goodbye?
