Louisiana Catahoula leopard dog .... There would would be No ALAPAHA Blue Blood Bulldogs if not to theese amazing dogs . Many characteristics in the ALAPAHA are due to this wonderful breed. And not just colour's, as some uneducated "people " like to say . And Worst of all i feel is alot of them are "breeders " too , unfortunately. If so ,ask yourself ? "why are ALAPAHAS so different than any other Bulldog breeds on this earth? And able to do and perform so many tasks and jobs such as hunt and herd and run for extremely long periods with no breathing issues, day in and day out and perform in so many ways that any other Bulldogs can not ? 🧐🤔 and i must add that is if bred properly and for the purpose originally intended which i definitely feel that alot of breeders have lost sight of over time .Also more importantly, i feel many forget to take in to account is ,Which ones are we speaking about? Lanas original bloodlines? Or R.T Colemans recreation many years later. Which to myself should be considered a completely different breed . And arguing and debating the all time question of "which is better"? Is a completely different subject and more importantly and not to often taken into account when debating this subject is " what does better mean ? In which way ? . Because i feel both have some better attributes than the other and simply in different ways .But to say that crossing two breeds mainly to make Alapahas, which would be the Old southern White English Bulldog or otherwise known as the WEB , Crossed to the Catahoula ,Brought alot more characteristics then colour. And to say otherwise is just completely absurd if you ask me and simply unintelligent in my opinion. Crossing any two or multiple breeds will 100% bring more to the gene pool on a genetic and scientific level then colour. And to argue that, just sounds funny to me and always has and will to someone such as myself who has crossed and bred many breeds throughout my life , and more importantly i feel is i have owned and spent alot of time around both breeds, as well as most of all owned different crosses of both breeds bred to other breeds. Such as and the reason for getting into the ALAPAHA in the first place was previously owning and raising my sisters Catahoula Bulldog named RIP TITO . Which i feel is not far off and honestly closer to the intended and originally bred dogs from Lana. I also feel that some of these (Catahoula Bulldogs) which is a breed in itself but can technically be a Catahoula bred to any bull breed. Usually a Pittbull crossed to a Catahoula or in other cases and in the case of the one i owned, was a English Bulldog crossed to a Catahoula. That is not to say characteristics
can and were bred out through careful selective breeding, which yes they could of and I believe they did do . But I believe that the characteristics that were bred out were some of the undesirable ones such as being skidish and also more the physical ones that they were not aiming for such as a longer snout and hound ears,as the desired idea was to make Bulldogs and specifically another type of American Bulldogs then the Johnson family or the Scott family. ,And were only renamed and had to be mainly due to the fact the colour and more specificly the eye colour was a problem to the association that the Lane family went to in order to get their type of what they intended to be a third and more capable of working type of American Bulldog. when trying to be recognized as a type of American Bulldog. Unfortunately they would not categorize it as a type of American Bulldog due to it not being normal colour and more importantly the eyes were not the desired colour's. Thereforeit had to be named a completely different and its own breed and had to be named something other than an American Bulldog. But back to the original topic, anyone who owns or has spent time around the ALAPAHA will agree that they definitely got alot of traits that sets them apart from any other Bulldog breed from somewhere and had to have come from something right ? In my opinion anyone that can argue and say they only got the colour from the Catahoula simply sounds a little uneducated to myself. What do you think ? ALAPAHA lovers ♥️? Last i must add that this is simply the opinion of myself, (John Nikolakakos ) and I am and always will be opened to others opinion and more importantly i love to learn and hear others and the beauty of being wrong is that you just learned something, as that is the most important factor in learning when speaking or debating any subject. But as well I must add although it is only my opinion and simply a hypothesis. It is coming from someone who has bred over 200 Aalapahas over 15 years and to date i am on my 5th generation in the bloodline i have spent years developing. More importantly i have most of all aimed to improve the breed and the dogs that we originally started the bloodlines with . As i felt there were many flaws and many improvements could be made . I can say I feel i have achieved this and will continue this with every generation in the future. I felt the breed itself and more specificly the foundation dogs that we started our bloodlines with were some of the best Alapahas we could of started with and get our hands on at the period of time and with that being said i feel due to a few breeders out there, the breeds improved alot generally speaking in.most cases ,from 15 years ago when there were very few properly bred Alapahas and breeders compared to now . So yes this is my my opinion but it is the opinion of someone very educated in this breed and who has spent alot of years researching this subject and spent real life time on it . So please if you are going to debate this all I ask is please be someone educated and experienced enough to do so . Anyone who is interested in educating themselves on this , I strongly recommend doing as I have and not just reading the very few and little information you will find on Google. As I feel is the main reason that so many people out there are misinformed and truly believe they are not when speaking about the ALAPAHA in any sort of subject on it. There is very little information out there when searching online and specifically looking up the ALAPAHA. The true history can and will be found when researching the historical documents on the foundation breeds and mostly the W.E.B or Old southern/White English Bulldog. Not when specificly searching the ALAPAHA. This is where I have found most of the true info on the origin and learned very quickly when doing so that myself and so many others have been completely misinformed by the very little information on the ALAPAHA and the same very few articles that littteraly everyone reads and believe to be true. Point being, If you intend to debate this or any subject. Please be educated enough on the subject at hand . Even more importantly, always be open to the idea that you may be misinformed and at the same time truly believe that you are not or that you are honestly educated on the topic. Alot of times that is the issue and even if you have tried to educate yourself on the topic the fact is that what you read on Google can often be incorrect. I think in this day and age that is the true issue in why so many are misinformed and really believe they are educated on the subject.
