Meet Duke, he is a funny, loving, playful guy who needs to learn basic some obedience. This family reached out to me 2wks ago to discuss training and simply be heard. You see, they have saved this handsome guy from a life where he was kept in a small crate on a balcony in Toronto where you can imagine the state he was in. That Owner at the time would rather money than care, honor the commitment he made when he purchased Duke.
Then when Duke was ready for his forever home , and they thought they had found it as it was a friend. Once again, Kate had to save this poor guy, she drove 5hrs to pick him up and bring him back to their safe home only to find out that while in the care of this "friend" Duke had been attacked by their dogs numerous times, ear infections were not treated and once again he was malnourished.
Let's fast forward 3months and thousands of dollars in vet care and Kate was informed that Duke was deaf in both ears due to the ear infections. Not only has Kate and her family provided a safe place for Duke, they have financial invested in his care to get him healthy, all the while knowing they cannot keep him. This family IA truly amazing! Kate researched how to work with Duke and teach him sit, stay, come, while working on trust and accepting human touch. When she reached out to trainers for support as she knew they needed support she was told by a "trainer" to have Duke put down explanation "he's defective". So, I am reaching out to all trainers and or cane corso experienced owners to contact me so we may help this handsome guy. Kate and her family are amazing people and have openly said that they love this guy and want him to have a home that fits him and is forever, one that accepts him and cares as much as they do, however they are honest and openly admits that this breed does not fit with their family or lifestyle. I applaud them for recognizing that, and for also doing everything they can and more. They have also ensured that he has been neutered as well as all shots.
Dm me if you can help Duke.

The more you say to your dog the more you confuse your dog. The less you say to your dog the more clearly you will communicate with them.
In other words sometimes you really just need to SHUT UP!
Then watch the dog finally be able to process and respond.
The average dog owner is likely creating what we would consider ADHD like behavior if it were a human.
Teach silently first.
The opposite is what 99% of dog owners do…
Sit, sit, sit, sit, Johnny SIT! Oh your such a good boy Johnny… here is a treat for being so smart.
Now look what you just reinforced.
Shut up and train without verbal and only add the verbal when you like the behavior you have shaped.
Lastly… SLOW DOWN!
Allow the dog to process and allow them to respond. We can build quicker responses later.
What most do… say the command and if the response is not immediate repeat the command until the dog magically gained clarity through your incessant gibberish.
Or… say the command and you IMMEDIATELY correct and never give the dog the ability to process and respond.
The end result is you are a human reliant on physical or electronic control over the dog. The dog is not left responsible for anything. Not good!
My desire is one verbal command followed by a compliant response. A response the dog chose to make to maintain comfort and seek reward faster.
So don’t over talk and over correct. They can’t learn a dang thing because you are an impossible teacher to understand.
Okay, I’m done now 🤯

Beau's off leash trail walk (run ) . Check out his recall, how Beau checks in, doesn't jump on the kids and when he comes in for a few recalls he goes directly into heel position, which he's been working on. Yes, near the end he does get excited and there is a jump and he thinks about running back with the kids before choosing to sit, we can work on the jump and he made the correct choice. 👏 Beau is one great pup. He is definitely going to make a great addition to the best family for him when he is ready ❤️

Beau is doing so well! He is learning door manners, recall and so much more! And I'm happy to report his jumping only shows up when he is tired, as it would any other pup in need of a nap 😴

Meet Beau. He is a 4.5month doodle that was surrendered through no fault of his own. Beau's past owner was unaware of the structure and routine that all pups (and dogs) need in order to feel fulfilled and to feel leadership so they do not become their own leader and create chaos . When I met with Beau it was clear he was extremely over tired and desperately in need of someone who understood him and his needs.

While speaking with the owner I began working with Beau and he instantly started to follow my hand and work for his food. Was he jumping? Yes, like a bouncing tiger on speed, as I remained calm and ignored that behavior (and placed a leash on for correction) I gave the owner one more chance to change her mind. Sadly she did not. You see, Beau had scratched her arm up so much that she had deep scabs going from elbow to wrist, and he had bit her hand which required stitches. This is what happens when you buy a pup and don't put in the work. A pup is a lifetime commitment, they require time, patience, work, lots of work, and earned affection. This is what pays of in the long run.

In the above picture you will notice its blury, as Beau still was unable to remain in a calm , relaxed state of mind and body. Move ahead five days and we have a calm , respectful pup, learning leave it and place, and much more.

This is a message I recieved from Raquel , Koda's owner:

"I just took Koda for a
real walk, all by myself for the first time in YEARS!! He did so amazing, he stayed by my side the entire time. We even walked past another dog and he didn’t even flinch. I am so so happy, thank you Tammy:) "
