Many people were following the stories of Max and Duke - two large white guardian breed brothers who were becoming unsettled after several months in the Terrace Animal Shelter. The loving shelter team and volunteers in Terrace were doing what they could to keep these big boys happy but it just was becoming too much for them and they were not doing well in the shelter environment. After a long road trip to Merritt, Max and Duke came into the care of Angel’s Animal Rescue in May of 2025. They flourished in our environment and did well with other dogs as well as all of the volunteers and team members they interacted with. They loved their time at the river, their special meals, walks and lots of cuddle time, as well as getting to enjoy the canine companionship that comes with the Angel’s environment.
Late 2025, both Max and Duke were rehomed to wonderful families. Max stayed in the Merritt area and took on his own family with a fuzzy puppy sister and animals to care for, while Duke moved on to his new life just outside of Hope, BC with his forever people and his new canine sibling. Both of these big loveable boys are thriving in their new homes and both boys are fantastic with children, other dogs and all people. Max even has his very own pond to get messy in and Duke has learned the excitement of camping. We hope you will be as pleased as we are to see these heartwarming pictures of the two big white boys that so many people seem to know about! Thanks to both of their incredible families for adopting and giving these lovely goofy boys the homes they deserved!
