On today's training agenda....how many items can I put on Rosie until she's fed up with me 😂 My guess was 3-4 but turns out it was 16!!!
I told her at any point she can leave and not participate.... she kept coming back and waiting for me to put the entire outfit on for her treat 🤭 she seemed less pleased about it with every outfit yet she still participated!

What I learned about Rosie today is she does not like belly straps or socks! All the harnesses and sweaters were fine, jackets with Velcro not a problem but the most comfortable Hurtta jackets with the belly strap was a hard no! The bungee around her head with the Hurtta jacket is also a hard no, we have room for improvement to prep for this winter.

Gentle reminder, now is the time to get them used to the clothing you may need them to wear this winter. ☃️

The best part about this breed....they are so cuddly 😍 she comes and wedges right in, lays her head on my neck or arms. ...

The best part about this breed....they are so cuddly 😍 she comes and wedges right in, lays her head on my neck or arms. She often sleeps upside down and gives kisses right before she falls asleep; super cute.

She lost three teeth today! It was fascinating to watch her use her back leg inside her mouth to pull out a tooth deliberately.

Will Rosie go in the pool for me for the first time 😃

She did go in! I'm impressed how much she trusted me despite being unsure, she is very resilient. I sat at the stairs called her over, she walked over to me and let me pick her up by the lifejacket and we went in together. Again and again, she kept choosing to come to me, then she started choosing to swim a little circle and skip the stair area... Coco showed her how it's done and then their competitiveness had them racing a lap there and back. Gus kept reminding them they were having 'too' much fun and to stop. 😂

Rosie even jumped in once! The second time I tried to get on video for you but she kind of fell in. That's why she's going to wear a life jacket until she's a little stronger and more confident going in and finding her own way out. ❤️

It's the most impatient dogs that show great self control if you explain a long game to them 😂 Taco was wild so I started explaining instructions to him about the three cup game. The rules are simple...you move and I unfortunately have to restart. Which means they get less food for not listening and more for waiting. Look at his concentration! This is his very first cup search 👏

Now the homework is to get the targetting better! Point and hold your nose at the scent without touching anything.

Step one 🫣 SETTLE DOWN!!!

Taco 🌮 wanted to mount and bite me the moment I sat on the floor with treats. We took 5 minutes to sit and settle before he earned the privilege to continue to train this fun game I had for him. I will not be rushed with rude behaviors. Taco learned fun comes with waiting and now the kiddies have a new game to play with him at home!

Looks like a game but I'm working on being on the ground which is so exciting for most dogs. I'm working on impulse control from food. I'm working on respecting my space. He also has to actively participate and concentrate or no treats! 🤭 Now Taco will be a little calmer around the kids and food in our hands. Tricks / games have rules that are applied in our every day lives.

Who else has a sloppy drinking dog!?

I love this handy trick. Teaching your dog to put their chin on a face cloth after they drink some water so the drool doesn't go on your floor! 🤤

Testings Rosie's recall 😉

Why my dogs will always have fantastic recalls... I never use fear or zap collars to correct a dog, that's not the relationship I want and I don't want to rely on any tool.

I condition it for 6 months before they ever get full freedom in any backyard. I love long lines!!! I need Rosie to recall off leash, which means she needs to recall inside the home first. If she can recall inside we progress to on a long line around as many different animals and distractions and noises. I want to condition her to respond even when things are exciting or scary or tasty looking 🤤 Rosie has almost earned her no leash privileges out here!
