Oh Cannelle, this may have been a short visit, but you sure packed your "happy go lucky" attitude. Cannelle had a blast between greeting everyone like they are long lost friends, and playing ball..... We can't forget the ball

Till next time pretty girl, it's always a pleasure.

A structured environment for dogs isn’t about constant activity, it’s about balance. Dogs should spend as much time learning new skills and reinforcing known manners as they do learning how to settle, relax, and simply exist calmly.

Enrichment doesn’t magically happen because a dog spends all day loose in the house. Mental engagement often comes through the small things woven into everyday life. On long work days, that may mean practicing place while supper cooks on the BBQ, asking for polite manners at the door, or fitting in a short training session between responsibilities, and that’s perfectly okay!

Training doesn’t have to be separate from daily life to be meaningful. Training and enrichment don’t always need to look elaborate to be valuable. Consistency, structure, and intentional interaction throughout the day can go a long way in helping dogs feel fulfilled.

One of the most overlooked skills we can teach our dogs is… doing nothing.

Not every outing needs to be exciting.
Not every environment needs constant engagement.
And not every moment should be filled with commands, toys, or stimulation.

Sometimes, the most valuable lesson is simply learning how to exist calmly in the world.

Sitting quietly at a park.
Relaxing beside you at a café.
Watching people walk by without reacting.
Settling in new environments without needing entertainment.

This is where true neutrality is built.

Dogs who can calmly observe the world tend to become:
• more confident
• less reactive
• easier to live with
• emotionally balanced

We spend so much time teaching obedience that we sometimes forget to teach relaxation.

The goal isn’t a dog that’s constantly “on.”
The goal is a dog that can switch off.

Because a calm dog isn’t just trained.
A calm dog is predictable.

One of the hardest parts of working in pet care, is that eventually we have to say goodbye to some very special friends. 💔

My heart is heavy with the news of BamBam's passing, I'm sure anyone who met him would tell you how unforgetful he was. His excited chatter every time I arrived, the happy energy surrounding him, and the way he could make anyone feel like your visit was the best part of his day.

House sitting won't feel the same without being greeted by Bam's joyful welcome at the door. I am incredibly thankful to have shared so many moments with him, and to have been trusted to care for such a wonderful boy.

Sending all my love to his family, and the fur siblings he left behind.

Run free, Bam. You were deeply loved, and will be missed by all.

Rainy, stormy days = welcome to ✨indoor circus✨

Since Mother Nature cancelled my plans of long walks, and laughing at outside zoomies (rude), I go FULL enrichment mode. Slow feeders, puzzle toys, chews, training refreshers, basically anything to keep busy dog brains from turning into tiny chaos gremlins.

Because being stuck inside all day? Absolutely not. The boredom? The “I guess I’ll just redecorate your house with my mouth” energy? Hard pass. 😅

So I work those brains, polish up those manners, and keep the vibes (mostly) under control.

And seriously… what was with yesterday’s storm?! That felt like a personal attack.

Sharing a Maritime proud gem for pet owners

This pet supply store is definitely worth a visit if you want quality products and a great selection for your furry friends. The shelves are stocked with toys, nutritious food, and all kinds of goodies!

They carry well-known, trusted brands like Open Farm, Charm, Acana and Go!, plus a wide range of healthy, affordable chews and treats that make it easy to spoil your pets the right way.

Not all dog boarding is created equal, and for some dogs, the difference truly matters.

Take a deaf dog, for example, and I mean deaf deaf. The kind who won’t wake up if you walk right past them while they are sleeping. The kind who makes the most outrageous, chaotic noises getting into things they absolutely shouldn’t… and has no idea they are doing it because they can’t hear a thing.

Dogs like this don’t just need supervision. They need understanding.

Large boarding facilities can be great for many dogs, but they often rely on group routines, louder environments, and generalized care. That setup can be overwhelming or even unsafe for dogs who are deaf, blind, reactive, or have special behavioral needs.

That’s where smaller, home-based boarding really shines. In a home setting, care is more personal and intentional. There’s the ability to:
• Learn each dog’s unique communication style
• Provide a calm, predictable environment
• Adjust routines to fit the dog, not the other way around
• Offer close supervision and quick intervention when needed

For dogs who experience the world differently, individualized care isn’t a luxury. It’s essential.

That’s why Azula here is thriving. While both reactive and deaf, a large facility with new people always coming and going, new dogs, and less attention to enforcing training already happening at home would not allow her to be her best self.

With a dedicated owner and a strong focus on communication, consistency, and care from both sides, Azula is already beginning to settle in and show just how well she can adapt.

Sometimes the best place for a dog isn’t the busiest one… it’s the one where they’re truly seen, understood, and supported. ❤️

Daycare days = happier, more confident pups!

Regular dog daycare visits can make such a difference, helping dogs build confidence, feel comfortable in new environments, and learn positive social skills at their own pace.

Benji is the perfect example ❤️
When he first started, he was anxious in new situations and unsure around other dogs. But with consistent visits, patience, and a gentle routine, he’s really come out of his shell.

Now? He happily joins in, plays with his favorite dog, and after a good, long play session… he’s ready to settle in for some cozy cuddle time and a well-earned snooze

Watching that growth and comfort build over time is what daycare is all about.

Consistency, care, and a safe space to just be a dog
