🐾 How Often Should My Dog Be Groomed? ✂️🛁

Every dog is different, but here’s a general guideline:

• Short-haired breeds: every 8–12 weeks
• Long-haired breeds: every 4–8 weeks
• Doodles, poodles & curly coats: every 4–6 weeks
• Double-coated breeds: every 6–12 weeks

Regular grooming helps prevent:
✔️ Matting
✔️ Overgrown nails
✔️ Skin & ear issues
✔️ Excess shedding
✔️ Discomfort

Keeping your pup on a routine schedule also helps them stay comfortable, clean, and easier to maintain between appointments 🐶✨

“Why is grooming so expensive?” Or “They’re just in it for the money”
Dog grooming is expensive because it’s a labour-intensive service done entirely by hand, often on moving, anxious, untrained, or heavily matted animals.

A single groom can take anywhere from 1–4+ hours depending on coat condition, behaviour, size, and breed. Groomers also invest thousands of dollars into professional equipment including clippers, shears, blades, grooming tables, tubs, dryers, and other tools needed to safely and properly groom pets.

On top of that, there are ongoing costs like blade and shear sharpening, equipment maintenance, high-quality shampoos and products, salon overhead, continued education, and replacing worn tools regularly.

Unlike many services, grooming cannot be rushed without sacrificing safety or quality. You’re paying for the time, skill, patience, and proper equipment required to care for your pet safely and comfortably.

Sometimes grooming is so much more than keeping a dog looking nice.

Sometimes it’s helping an older dog stay comfortable.
Sometimes it’s giving a nervous dog patience and kindness.
Sometimes it’s catching little changes so owners can keep a closer eye on their pup.

People see the haircut.

But behind every groom is care, trust, and a whole lot of love.

That’s why this work means so much to me.

Today I got to do a lion cut on Toby the doodle! This was so much fun for me! I truly enjoyed getting to try something new!
