We will be at the Hall on Friday from 3-5 offering preventative treatments to your canines.

Deworming is important, especially as we enter winter.
When a dog has worms it’s often more susceptible to malnutrition, anemia and impaction causing death.

⚠️ Sensitive but important information ⚠️

🆘 We consider females in heat an emergency 🆘

Today we were in Waterhen after receiving many calls and messages about several females in heat. We caught all 3 females and they will be spayed on the 20th

•Males can smell her from many kilometers away (they will leave home to find her)

•Males become extremely aggressive and fight to mate with her. Even friendly males act out of character and become aggressive to people and other males.

•They form packs and can hurt people, children, other animals and even kill puppies

•People die. This isn’t new information. Packs of dogs frenzy over females in heat. More recently an adult woman was taken down by a pack of dogs and killed.

•The females can not get away. No matter how much they run away or resist they are subject to repeated mating, getting no sleep and often suffer injuries.

•More litter means more suffering. Most puppies born in winter die. The puppies cannot survive unless they are under mom. The moms often leave to eat and come back to a dead litter. In rare cases, the moms or another dog will eat the puppies.

•Do NOT try to catch a female in heat when there is a pack around her. Call your Leadership/municipality, the rcmp or us. We have the tools to safely catch a female.

***Waterhen members-Our contract with the community has been renewed for 3 months. NOW is the time to message us and get your dog in to be fixed***

Our work is important, it’s necessary and it’s clearly needed.
