Pet Valu Meadow Lake has been an amazing partner for MLDHS. Today we picked up a cheque from them for $971! This was from their June Paws fundraising event. Thanks to all that participated in this fundraiser and the staff at Pet Valu. It really helps with our vet bills and other expenses! 🐶😺

🐾 Meet Ivy – Resilient, Playful, and Ready to Grow With You! 🐾
Born in late April 2025, Ivy is a spirited young pup with a heart full of energy and a story that shows just how tough she is. She came into care with a broken leg that had never been treated by a vet, but it’s now fully healed. While she may develop arthritis later in life, Ivy gets around beautifully and doesn’t let anything slow her down.
At 27 lbs and growing fast, Ivy appears to be a German Shepherd mix with a playful streak and a love for adventure. She adores wrestling with the resident dogs in her foster home and takes great joy in pestering the cats (in true puppy fashion 😄).
Smart and eager to learn, Ivy already knows how to sit and is picking up new tricks every day. She sleeps soundly in her kennel at night and is making steady progress with house training — she just needs time, consistency, and a little patience.

We have adopted dogs and cats all over Canada and occasionally the United States, which proves that when someone finds the right pet, there is no distance too great!
As we have no staff nor public hours visits are by appointment only.
PLEASE NOTE: We have at times had technical issues and have not always received adoption applications. If you fill out an application please follow up with an email to [email protected] to verify it has been received. We recommend taking screen shots of your application prior to submitting or saving it to your computer if you can; if we don't receive the application you can then email the screen shots or saved file to save you time.
• You must be at least 21 years old.
You must be able to make a LONG term commitment to an animal - both emotional and financial.
We do not adopt to communities that use dog shooting as a means of animal control.
We do not adopt pets as gifts, the intended owner must apply.
For dogs: you must have a fenced in yard OR be committed to multiple daily leash walks.
All current pets must be spayed or neutered and go for regular/necessary vet care.
For families with children under 5: we will not adopt certain breeds to you.
Cats cannot be declawed after adoption - Dogs cannot have ears or tails docked after adoption.
We know the personalities of each of the animals that we have in rescue. We know what is the ideal home environment for each of them and will make our decisions based on that knowledge.
Our adoption process can take approximately 2 -10 days.
ADOPTION FEES:
Dogs - spayed/neutered, up to date on shots, de-wormed and microchipped -$200
Cats - spayed/neutered, up to date on shots, de-wormed - $80.00
For Puppies and Kittens that are too young to be altered at the time of adoption but are up to date on shots and de-wormed; the adoption fee is the same as adult dogs and cats BUT we also require a separate spay/neuter deposit. For Puppies deposit is $300 and Kittens is $100. This is generally in the form of a post dated cheque which is shredded with proof of altering by our chosen date.
Occasionally we adopt out a dog or cat at ‘fundraiser’ pricing - any animal being adopted as a fundraiser animal will be posted as such, with the fundraiser fee noted.
