"Your Pets Are Our Pets!" Markham Veterinary Clinic is an AAHA Accredited veterinary hospital specializing in the needs of our dog and cat friends.

We have been serving the Markham area since 1951 and are located in the Eastown Plaza at the corner of Highway 7 and Ninth Line, on the southwest side. The practice of veterinary medicine is changing very quickly, as are the needs of our clients to have services performed in a caring, professional and efficient manner. We have the physical facilities, electronic capabilities and veterinary expertise to continue our success in the future. If your pets need a family environment away from home, lodging is available in our “Doggie Dorm” or “Kitty Kamp”.

🎃 HAPPY HALLOWEEN from the creatures who live in your house rent-free!

Tonight’s forecast:
👻 Your dog will report 73 suspicious visitors. All of them children.
🐈‍⬛ Your cat will knock something off a shelf and blame paranormal activity.
🦴 A treat will disappear under mysterious circumstances. The suspect will request another.
📸 You will take 46 costume photos. One will be usable. It will feature your thumb.

A few house rules for the haunting: keep candy out of paw’s reach, secure the front door against escape artists, and give pets a quiet retreat from the festivities. Costumes are optional—being adorable is already a full-time job. 🧡

Wishing you more treats than tricks and absolutely no veterinary plot twists! 🐾

🎃 Why buy a Halloween costume when your entire personality already comes with accessories?

We’re putting pet life in a costume bag—and some of these feel suspiciously like someone’s been watching us. 👀

Each costume comes complete with oddly specific habits, questionable decisions and accessories you probably already have somewhere under the couch.

Assembly required. Dignity sold separately. Batteries not included. 🐾

👀 The Creature from Beneath the Bed
Two glowing eyes. One suspicious rustle. And a paw that reminds you your ankles are technically within reach. 🐈‍⬛

Before you call an exorcist, it’s probably just your cat enjoying some privacy.

Why do cats hide under the bed?
🛏️ It feels safe. A sheltered spot lets them stay tucked away while keeping an eye on what’s happening.
💤 They want uninterrupted rest. Apparently, “just one more forehead kiss” is not part of their nap schedule.
🙀 Something feels overwhelming. Visitors, loud noises, new pets or changes at home can send them seeking a quieter space.
🩺 They may not feel well. Pain or illness can also cause cats to hide, especially if it’s a new habit or they’re hiding more than usual.

Give your cat comfortable hiding spots and let them emerge on their own terms. If their hiding habits change—or you notice changes in eating, energy or litter box use—contact us.

Respect the tiny tenant beneath your bed. But keep tabs on them, too. 🖤

👻 Monster of the Week: small villains, big pet problems.

They don’t knock. They don’t need an invitation. And they definitely don’t leave when Halloween ends. Meet the lineup our veterinary team wants you to watch for:

🧛 Fleas: The Tiny Vampires
Their bites can cause intense itching and allergic skin reactions. These unwanted guests can also settle into your home, making consistent, pet-appropriate prevention important.

🕷️ Ticks: The Hitchhikers
They attach to pets and can transmit disease. Check your pet after outdoor adventures and ask us which tick protection fits their lifestyle.

🪱 Intestinal Worms: The Hidden Houseguests
Some pets have no obvious symptoms—and you won’t always see worms in their stool. Stool testing helps us find infections that might otherwise go unnoticed.

🦷 Dental Disease: The Creature Beneath the Gumline
Bad breath isn’t always just “dog breath.” Inflamed gums, painful teeth and trouble chewing deserve a closer look. Home dental care and veterinary dental exams work together to protect that smile.

👂 Ear Infections: The Head-Shaking Haunting
Scratching, redness, odour or discharge can signal a problem. Different causes need different treatments, so skip the mystery drops and let us investigate.

📞 Noticed something suspicious? Call our team to schedule a visit or review your pet’s preventive care. These villains don’t deserve a sequel. 🎬🐾

🎬 THE UNTRIMMED CLAW 🐾
Coming soon to a hardwood floor near you.

Click. Click. Click.
Something is coming down the hallway.
And it desperately needs a nail trim. 😳

The villain? Overgrown nails.
The soundtrack? Impossible to ignore.
The victim? Your legs when someone gets excited to see you.

Long nails can make walking uncomfortable and may snag, split or curl into paw pads. A little routine care can help keep this thriller from becoming a painful sequel.

📞 Call us to schedule a nail trim—let’s give those claws a less dramatic ending! 😂

Friday Furry Faces

👻 A haunted house, but it’s a veterinary practice…

Behind every door:
🍫 A dog who ate the entire bag of chocolate. Including the evidence.
🐈 A suspiciously untouched litter box.
🦮 Retractable leashes stretched across the waiting room like tripwires.
🫣 “He doesn’t bite…” whispered from the shadows.
💊 “Did I give Cooper his medication today?”
💻 And somewhere down the hall… “Well, Google said…”

And that’s just the first hallway. 👻😂

All jokes aside, you never have to be afraid to tell our team what happened—or what you’ve read online. Honest details help us care for your pet. 🧡

Some family members bring a side dish. Others sit under the table and hope someone drops one. 🍂🐾

This Thanksgiving, we’re grateful for the pets who make our homes a little messier, our couches a little fuller and our lives a whole lot sweeter.

To our clients: thank you for trusting us with such an important member of your family. Getting to know and care for them means so much to our team. 🧡

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us! 🇨🇦
